The lc's i made with this stuff is looking great!! Nice and clear liquid. I like it better then malt. Pics to come

Alder is not the BEST type of to use
Heat drying cubes is okay and recommended
Sunflower seeds do not cause contams
You should directly mist your cakes
The subjects that I cover are not species specific and can be used in All Aspects of Mycology

i assume any raw cane sugar should work fine
is there anything special about "turbinado"? other then it comes in packets perhaps..

Raw cane sugar is unrefined, and turbinado is "less" refined.
I'm guessing that you would have better clarity with the turbinado.

Turbinado is all I'm ever going to use from now on.
Works great. I bought a 2lb box, and it's very easy to measure the mass of the crystals with my digital scale to weigh out 5g (I use 5.5g for 250ml.)
That 2lb box will be enough for more than 160 250ml LCs.
Personally, I HATE the smell of beer (yes, go ahead, question my sexuality and nationality...  ), so malt extract LCs made me want to vomit. Aside from that, they froth up when you stir or shake them, which makes aspirating syringes a little harder. Honey LCs, hard to tell contams from sediment. Karo LCs, mediocre performance...
I've been doubling up on tyvek (two layers) with a silicone dab for a self-healing injection port. Now, my issue is that it's so easy to make, I need more syringes to hold it all!

I looked for it last time I was at the grocery store and all they had was 5 lb boxes of it,guess I'm just gonna have to take a few packets next time I see it at a restaurant,that is where I usually see it,come to think of it I never remember seeing it at the grocery store before,maybe I should just buy the box and make ALLOT of LC

That type of sugar is everywhere here. Starbucks would be your best bet. Maybe we'll start hearing "yeah, tyvek is free at the post office and raw sugar is free at starbucks" haha.

TURBINADO SUGAR should be available about anywhere.
It may be called Demerara or Muscovado sugar in Europe.
I'm not sure if those are identical to TURBINADO.
But, they are very close.
Sugar cane is grown in India, Spain & elsewhere in Europe.
Where they have long hot summers & ample rainfall.
Refined white sugar is near pure sucrose.
Turbinado sugar has vitamins, minerals & other trace nutrients in it.
Derived from sugar cane, in a steaming process.
Turbinado sugar is not the common type of brown sugar.
(often used in baking)
Brown sugar is usually refined white sugar, mixed with molasses.

STARBUCKS has this stuff everywhere in their shops, its called simply "raw sugar" if you live anywhere remotely close to civilization it shouldnt be hard to find, even if you don't have a local coffee shop nearby.

I got my 2 lb. box at Walmart. Chick-Fil-A's also have this stuff available in the condiment/napkin/straw sections, I've noticed.
