firestarters

Assuming that wax melts at a low tempature and black powder spontaneously combusts at a higher temperature would tell us that mixing in gunpowder to warm wax could make candles with a fireworks sort of nice effect. Not a lot of powder, just about 1/16th. The dangers of this are clear, and the gunpowder should be measured at a separate location far from heat source, and wax and powder combined away from flames after wax is almost hard but still half liquid.
This would create some pretty bad ass candles for cool effects in the outdoors.

Black powder and gun powder are two completely different things.

From what you describe you don't know what you're doing Flowie, and a member who for the most part did know what he was doing blew himself up not too long ago.

Pyrotechnics are only for the trained and experienced.

I am messing with trivial amounts of hot wax and gun powder, with no open flames. I have learned that the powder in a shotgun shell is not explosive unless bound tight. Which is why I am now going to experiment combining the wax and powder over a string for a sort of fuse like candle.

I am experienced in safety but I've never tried this before. I'll report back with details and practicality of this technique.

It works well, I made a nice wax firework to try and burn tomorrow. I did a test run with the dipping and coating with powder and the key is one dip wax, dip in powder, let air cool, dip in wax, dip in powder, repeat again, don't use too much wax and don't make too many layers of powder.
