my shiitake shade house and Maitake in a tub
    #6294089 - 11/17/06 01:04 PM (5 years, 6 months ago)

My shiitake shade house. I'll try to grow them on 3 floors plastic racks.

A young female moose looking for shiitake in this first snow storm?

As I can't anymore grow mush outdoor this year, this maitake (at his second growing phase) grow in my magic tub near the entry door. It's funny to see the reactions of the poeple when they look at the mushrooms when they arrive. I've growned a lot of mush that way, it's so easy.

Shiitake blocks after 1 flush waiting for next flushes next spring.

Freesporeprint. As you asked, here's the tool I've made to extract mycelium from small bottle slants. The tool is twisted and sharped.
Sending mycelium by plain is a lot better in bottle slants than in petri dishes.

Cool man, awesome projects. Do you sterilize or just pasturize your shiitake blocks?

I seen that post before, but I just noticed this time what that drum originally had in it. Kinda scary. Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, used in making polyurethane.

interesting...

How many months of the year do you grow shiitake and how hot does it get there?

What is the floor made of?

Are you gonna have a humidification system in there?

What did the building cost you?

I would realy like to start growing maitake since it seems everyone wants them. How dificult is it actualy to grow this species. I have been intimidated in the past to try it but I went ahead and bought a culture, so I'm gonna give it a shot.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks again for the pictures micoloco. I'm in mid-construction of a 4x4 foot trench in my garden, once I get a little more done I'll put up some pics. Thanks for the inspiration, and long live the crazy monkey! :P

I seen that post before, but I just noticed this time what that drum originally had in it. Kinda scary. Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, used in making polyurethane. Maybe but now it's totaly clean.

How many months of the year do you grow shiitake and how hot does it get there? May to November. The most 32C.

What is the floor made of? Sand

Are you gonna have a humidification system in there? A little mist system. It's a humid country here.

What did the building cost you? Around 4-5000$ Canadian.

I would realy like to start growing maitake since it seems everyone wants them. How dificult is it actualy to grow this species. I have been intimidated in the past to try it but I went ahead and bought a culture, so I'm gonna give it a shot.

There is a lot to say about this species. I don't have the time to answer. Make a post on it, guys like Roger Rabbit will probably answer you.
