yes, peruvianus always has brown spines, usually around 1/4-1/2 inch at the shortest. and true peru is blue. just for future refference.

i got tricked by home depot myself lol. still a beautiful plant to grow from what i hear.

If I got it from Home Depot I would have no one to blame but myself. I got it from BBB. It was sold as T. peruvianus. I did not plant it up side down. It is trying to root from the top. I don't know why. BBB has a shop in a near by city. Mybe I'll take it back and make them trade me for a San Pedro.

your cacti is indeed upside down. nice eyes dr.
its rooting from the top cause thats actualy the bottom.

if they dont trade it back, hack the cuz off right above the pups, and turn the piece free'd from the cut upside down so its "right side up" in some sand or quality soil to root. then you can sell it on craigslist or something to make up for the money u lost.

people around her ask or sell cacti on craigslist all the time, they actualy go quite quick.

BBB is totaly unrealiable. i have one of their fake mimosa hostilis growing, i have no idea what species it is but its almost 3ft tall in only a few months so it cant be hostilis. anyone know what the mystery mimosa they sold as hostilis was?

I've always thought that Bouncing Bear sucked. I ordered some mimosa root bark that was probably from the same kind of plant they sent you, Kid. Absolutely terrible, potency was non-existent.

Now I see them selling cuz as pedros, and they're rooting them upside down!?!? Fucking morons.

On storing pedro tea...

Brewmaster: Well, the mescaline will still be in there, but I'd be afraid of it conjealing and trying to escape after it grew in size from eating all the other shit in my fridge, and possibly my dogs if it got out.

It is not f'ing upside down! If you drop a San Pedro sideways in the ground it will root from the side. It just did not know which way was up for a bit. I have witnessed some seedy shit go down at the BBB retail shop. Like this girl who come in asking about Silvia D and was talked into buying some A. Muscaria and was told how to make a nice tea from it. I don't know how many hospitalizations I have read about as a result of consumption of A Muscaria from BBB. But they do not recommend consumption of any of the plants they sell. Lol!

im not saying its upside down because of the roots on the top. im saying its upside down cause the way the spines rest. that cactus is seriously doing a very odd 180. sure you can plant it on its side and thats fine, and even upside down as we all see now, but im sure it slows down the growth alot when doing a headstand. think about it, compare to a laying down cacti which is more natural for a cacti that maybe fell over, compared to one that was planted as though it was part of an avalanche. you could grow upside down too, would it be comfortable or easier?

im sure the cacti would be in favor of u helping him. shit he probably has a headache from standing on his head so long.

"does anyone know if they are aware that they are selling cuzcos as perus? and if so, isn't it a little assinine to CONTINUE doing so?"

They have been informed a number of times.

Their quality of other cacti will differ by batch. The peruvianus are always cuzcoensis, as far as I've heard.

i agree that it is probably cuzco... but it should be pointed out that even experienced botanicists (or whtever the profession is called in english) do make mistakes in classifying cacti. the individual appearance of individuals (grown from same type of seeds) can vary a bit (cutlings of course look the same as their "mother").
