First timer here... ready to dive in

Hey all, I'm new around these pages, but I must say that what I've found so far is incredible. There's so much information on this website, I've been busy reading for days!! I figured I'd join up and look for guidance because I'm almost ready to try shrooming for my first time. I smoke the good herb occassionally, have experimented with Salvia Divinorum (plain leaf and extracts), and Hawaiian Baby Woodrose Seeds. Although Salvia is a crazy experience, I don't think that can prepare me for a long shroom trip. A friend of mine grows P. Cubensis and was generous enough to start me on my way. I have 1/2 ounce of these pretty little fungi sitting here ready to help me on my way. I'm going to try them with three other friends, all of us are newbies so we're going to start out easy. I'm thinking about 1g to start, maybe up it if we're ready for more. All of us are herb smokers, and we have all used Salvia on several occassions, so I'm not too worried about people freaking out. We're fully prepared with triptoys, etc. in case we do.
I was wondering if anyone had some good suggestions as far as tripping music to get us on our way. I know there is a thread somewhat like this already, but my request is more specific. I guess you could classify our likes as "hippie" music, I mostly listen to Jam bands and Reggae. I have all of Pink Floyd's stuff, that seems fitting of course ! I was also thinking about using some Devendra Banhart, does anyone else have some more suggestions that go with my music preferences? I'll be sure to tell you all how my first time with these little guys goes, I'm very excited.

Hmmmm... my friend suggested 1.5, and all the info into the Shroom calculator thing and for level 2 it said even less. I don't have a scale so I need to borrow one and divide my supply up, I definetely don't want to accidentally eat too much.

I think first timers worry way too much about a bad trip. If you are in a good peaceful, no worries type setting, then you can eat an 1/8 and be fantastic. If you are comfortable with you as a person you will be fine. Anyways, bad trips always happen for a reason and an are extremely valuable when it comes to expanding your mind. I never will regret having a bad trip. Mushrooms know your mind better than the mind itself.

Good call Nightkrawler, I love the Dead... Saw Bob Weir and Mickey Hart this summer playing with Particle, WOW! I'm not too worried about a bad trip, I've always had great control over myself with all the different entheogens I've tried. I just don't want anything a little too overwhelming than what I'm looking for on my first attempt. I'm planning on trying 1.75 grams, topped off with a little cannabis, and a great playlist to jam too. We also have the benefit of living in the woods, so going outside won't be a risky situation. I'll definetely report back on my first experience when the time comes!

Sorry, I'm so new to the whole thing I don't really know what all that means. I'm assuming cultivating mushrooms or going out into the woods to find them?? If that's the case, no I'm not, not yet at least. I have a friend that grows them so that's where I have gotten them from. They long and stringy with somewhat small caps, which I believe are P. Cubensis by looking at pictures on this site? It's something I'm really interested in though, along with the cultivation of Cannabis. Now isn't a good time in my life to try it, but hopefully down the road I can. Correct me if I'm wrong, but growing mushrooms appears much easier then growing healthy plants like cannabis.

Depends on what one considers "easy". Certain steps in the preparation of the cultivation setup can be tricky. All depends on what sort you are growing and which methods you use. Hunting is easy if you live in an area that has actives around you.

I live in the midwest... I don't know anything at all about hunting but I'm assuming there isn't much around. I know my sister went picking all the time when she lived in Hawaii.
