I hate deciding that it's time to sleep.
Once I decide that it's late, and i've got shit to do tommorow, and its time to get into bed... it's over from there. I'm just setting myself up for hours of restlessness
But i loooove sleeping in. Nothing better.
Waking up, rolling over, burying my face in the pillow, and drifting off to sleep again. Having the best dreams. Being able to remember them.

lol.. it seems like I'm the same way. Telling myself to go to sleep because I have stuff to do or I have to get up early makes it even harder to sleep.

Yo, Fred. I'm glad that you found that setup. DDR is cool, though I always sucked at it. =)

Always be open-minded about trying new stuff. If there comes an oppurtunity to do other kinds of exercise, try that. You will find that having a variety is alot more fun than doing the same stuff over and over.

Sometimes all you need is a long walk to stay in shape. I think that walking + stretching is a really good way to go. Some nights, I walk with my dog (3-10 miles) and I come back home, shower, and stretch. You can try the same thing. I suggest not eating anything more than something like an apple and some water before you shower and stretch, though. I will post a stretching routine for you asap.

You may also find that having a long term goal for working out is a good thing for you. My goal right now is to buy a 40-75 foot length of rope so that I can tie it to trees and climb up. It takes alot of strength to climb up 30 feet of rope with skills (no strain because I do it with the correct technique) so I will have to train consistently for a while just to be confident about it. Another of my goals is to run up a 15 story building's staircase. That will take alot of work if I actually want to do that. Be on the lookout for cool stuff to try.

I don't think you'd die. Your immune system would probably be weakened quite a bit, which could cause some sicknesses, but I don't think they'd be fatal. Has anybody ever stayed up for 8 days!? That would be crazy.
Last night was the first night that I actually got a good nights sleep. I ran on a tread mill for a while and took some teylenol pms. I really don't want to take sleeping pills, but they do help. I think it's more of a psychological effect that they produce upon me. If only I could get a doctor to prescribe me some placebo pills, while convincing me they are the real deal!

Scientists have conducted experiments where monitored patients stayed up for 10 days at a time. The world record is set by Randy Gardner, who stayed up for 264 hours, or 11 days.

Man, I would kill myself if I stayed up for 11 days. I can barely stay up for four or five days with the help of amphetamines. I can't imagine how anybody could stay up longer without the help of any drugs besides coffee.

So long as you are praised think only that you are not yet on your own path but on that of another.

i've been down there, tried all the excersise and whatnot, the diet changes aswell. it does make you more tired but that didn't do the trick. just about 5 months ago i realised that in a way i hate sleep. like the feeling of waking up well-rested is great and everything, but just on some level i hate sleep. Just too much happening every second that you are asleep that you are missing out on.

maybe the reason you can't don't fall asleep easily is related to the fact that you don't want to sleep?

while there may be a lot happening that you're missing out on if you're asleep, you're going to miss out on a whole lot more if you can't rest your brain adequately to fully experience your life.

My sleeping pattern is no good. A few days a week I work well into the morning, and the rest of the week I get up around that time.

It's pretty useless, some days i'll get to work for a 12 hour shift having had 2 or 3 hours sleep, but mostly i'll get maybe 5 or 6 hours. Years ago I can remember sleeping 10 to 12 hours a day just because I could.

I can only offer bad advice, pot, beer, bed. It works when in a pinch.

Eat 5-6 meals a day to maintain an evenly burning metabolism throughout the day.. also, exercise as others have mentioned.

Futhermore, this article contains many useful tips on getting to sleep as well as getting a proper nights sleep: http://www.t-nation.com/findArticle.do?article=06-136-feature
