Traffic stop yields cocaine bust
A Robstown man was arrested on drug charges after police said he was found in possession of 4.6 grams of cocaine last month.
Oscar Olivarez Jr., 30, of 707 Western Ave., was charged with possession of a controlled substance after an Oct. 18 traffic stop, said Robstown police.
Police said Olivarez was seen driving "at a hurried rate" away from the Wells Fargo Bank at 1150 Main St. in Robstown at about 7:24 p.m. after an officer responded to an alarm call at the bank.
Olivarez's car was stopped about 1 1/2 miles east of Robstown along Main Street and Olivarez was searched after police said he gave conflicting stories.
Police said six small bags containing a white powdery substance of suspected cocaine was found in a pocket of Olivarez's pants.
His car was impounded and Olivarez was taken to the Nueces County Jail, police said.

Wait, was the bank robbed and he was just unfortunate to have been leaving at the same time?
I'm confused...it says he was leaving in a hurry and that officers were responding to an alarm at the bank... did he rob it too then? Where there other robbers?

there was no robbery. there was just a supsicious "alarm call". no doubt an excuse used to try and maintain "just cause". no doubt a clever way of establishing a line of circumstantial evidence to avoid the work that would lead up to a legal stop into one that is illegal and contrived and easier than doing it by the book.
no doubt they were looking for a way to get this guy and conspired with the bank to cook up some kind of fake scenario in order to have an excuse to stop and arrest the guy.
nothing new here.

Yeah either there was a robbery and the cops let them get away to make a small drug bust. Or as far away as he was they would have figured out it hadn't been robbed before pulling him over. Either way something ain't right.
