Austin Police Arrest 2 Men, Seize Pot And Cocaine
(CBS 42) AUSTIN Austin Police seized large amounts of cocaine and marijuana in a South Austin apartment Friday, and arrested two men in connection with the case.
The Austin Police Organized Crime Division arrested Raul Albert Magallanes, 38, and Jose Cruz Rodriquez, 50, on Nov. 3 following a search of an apartment at 412 E. William Cannon Drive (map).
A joint APD and San Antonio Police Narcotics Division investigation determined that a significant amount of cocaine and cash was located in the apartment. Detectives watched the apartment and stopped the vehicles of Magallanes and Rodriquez for traffic offenses when they left the apartment separately.
Police searched the apartment and found 117.5 pounds of marijuana, 16.5 pounds of cocaine, $46,157 in cash, and scales and money counters.
They also seized vehicles, including a 2001 Ford Expedition, 1999 Lincoln Navigator and 1998 Dodge Durango.
Magallanes and Rodriquez were taken into custody by the Southwest Area Command Street Response Unit and transferred to the U.S. Marshal�s Office.
