just courious, i had made a nutrient broth using all bran cerial ( as was posted recently), after i made it, i was informed the syringe may be contaminated. i deceided to let the myc water go, since it was sealed, w/ no chance of contaminating anything else. its seems to be working, but i was wondering, does the contams in a liquid innocluant look the same ( basicly ) as it does on say a jar of BS or brf? i can spot contams w/ no problems on jars, but dont have much exp with myc water
Thats very odd, one thing you have to realise it that when you're looking on the jars is that it's growing on a 2D surface... Of course, what you can't see is the pattern it makes when it's colonizing on the inside... a 3D surface. When you're working in a suspension, your contam gets to spread out in it's 3D enviornment, it gets the best of both worlds becuase it gets dispersed everytime you pick it up and looks at it... just keep in mind that if it's still, contams that usually grow in a circle will grow into a sphere. I'd say that your color would be your best reference in this area.
<-- i read something like this somewere, hope i covered all the points.
thanks for the reply. i just got off work, and i can clearly see the contams, . i was just paranoid i wouldnt be able to tell. sucks tho, this was a new tek for me. using the bran cerial water, and it seems to have worked great, lotta myc already, to bad the syringe was bad :-( oh well, the replacement is on the way, and i got a half of a box of the cerial left hee heee
