My picks for the top 5 NFL Quarterbacks....

1. John Elway – Is there a greater quarterback that can run a two-minute offense? I don’t think so. His arm strength, accuracy and mobility made him almost impossible to stop.
2. Joe Montana – He wasn’t that fast. He wasn’t that strong. He wasn’t that big. But what he was… was a winner. He ran his offense to perfection. He was just elusive enough to give his receivers that extra second they needed to get into the open field.
3. Brett Farve – One game against my beloved Bears, Brett rolled to his left, stopped a yard short of the sideline, squared up and threw a rocket to Antonio Freeman from the 20 yard line for a touchdown. Not a fantastic play but it defined his arm strength. He takes a lot of chance, but that’s what great folks do.
4. Dan Marino – Too bad he never won a Super Bowl. Had he ever been given a running game maybe that would have changed things.
5. Payton Manning – Just might end up being one of the best ever – but he will need to win a couple of Super Bowls and do better in the red zone.

I'd go Montana, Marino, Elway, for top three; I don't really know a lot of the oldies, like Tarkinton and Starr and shit.

different. I chose the impossible. I chose...

I completely agree with Paw on this one.

Unitas? (sp?).. not worthy of a top 5? although I cant agrue any of your top 5.. and yeah Peyton will end up being the best ever, to never win a superbowl. (it wont happen)
Warren Moon was pretty good in his day as well.

Johnny Unitas was seriously considered but he had a fantastic line that protected him very good They used to give him 5 seconds or more with every snap He was a badass tough fuckker because he took some incredible vicious hits...that was before they had made rules that protect quarterbacks Joe Namath was as good as Unitas but knees ended his career to soon and thats why his stats arent up there with the others

ya, manning you cant put that high right now, but i think 10 years hell be number 1
favre id like to rate higher cause im a crazy packer fan but 3 is prolly a fair spot. he did run the 2 mintue like elway though and make some of the most impossible plays ever
mario was bomb but never won : (
and those old guys, im sure they were no where as good as these guys, but we need to figure out how much they dominated in their time, which i have no idea of

yeah they do have a pretty good shot this year, as they do every year for the past 3-5.. however they will find a way to lose, perhaps in a playoff (2nd round) game against the bengals?

Brett Favre isn't good, how many years did he lead the league in INTERCEPTIONS? 9 out of 15 seasons with more than 1 interception per game...
Not top 5 this season, not top 5 ever, bullshit hall of famer...
Worst thing the Packers did was keeping him around after 1998 or 1999
Records:
First all-time in career playoff interceptions thrown with 26 Fourth all-time in interceptions thrown with 262 (Tarkenton, 266; John Hadl, 268; George Blanda, 277)
I'm sure after this season and maybe next season, if Favre really dedicates himself, he can become the all-time leader in interceptions... It's a long road with trials and tribulations, but as long as he's trying to throw into triple coverage, there's still hope...

#2 in career passing TD's (likely to become #1) #2 in completions #2 in passing yards Career completion % of over 60% Touchdown ratio comparable to Marino's (1.561 to 1.67) Also, he got a Superbowl win somewhere in there.
No good? You're fucking thick if you actually believe that.

wow anyone who doesnt respect farve is truly ignorant.. not to mention how DEPENDABLE he has been, the guy rarely misses a game.. NFL QB's are generally plagued with injury which ends up hurting their team
ive never really like the packers but Farve is a standout guy/ player.

maybe I'm tainted, I was a long time Packers fan, a couple good seasons and a super bowl ring doesn't make him top 5...
one thing he can be depended on has been to throw interceptions...
Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, Jim Kelly, Troy Aikmen, Randall Cunningham, Warren Moon, McNabb, hell Eli Manning, the list goes on and on... all better at the quarterback than Favre...
Not to mention that Favre was hopped up on Vicodin during his glory years...

ahem, Steve Young, Terry Bradshaw, Ken Stabler, Roger Staubach, Bart Starr
come on, Brett Favre is no way a top 5, no way
being a "stand up guy" doesn't make him one of the 5 best QBs of all time
