pf jar ... colonized thru top layer???

So I open one of my jars this morning to dunk and find it colonized right to the top... thru the dry layer of vermiculite. Is this ok? The only thing I can think of is I put too much water in the pc and it bubbled over into the bottom jars... I don't know how many are like this as this one was the only one ready to dunk. Are these jars going to be ok? I haven't seen any contams yet but I am no expert when it comes to contams so I don't know if I would know if I had... say, cobweb mold etc... they look completely fine to me. What do you guys think?

i don't see how it could be a problem as long as there are no contams

not a problem i use a thin layer of verm on my jars and it almost always comes through. once i had contam on the top layer but no signs of contam on the cake and i threw out but if there is not contam and it is nice and healthy go for it.

ok cool... I was just surprised to see it when I opened the jar- and we all know how disheartening it can be to lose even one jar after all that work and waiting!

Almost all my PF jars end up doing this. I've never really given it a second thought. Just a sign of good healthy myc i believe.
