puff balls ?

i know this is kind of a newb question and there's tons of stuff online about them.. but i can't seem to make a positive identification just with the info available.. photos always seem misleading to me.
anyhow, do these appear to be an edible variety of puff balls? i found them on the ground nestled up under some clumps of grass or moss, etc. after slicing them in half they smell strongly of honey mustard or sweet mustard.. an appetizing smell for sure.

there was an abundance of them but most were a yellow-olive color inside.. perhaps indicative of age? there were also several olive-colored spore-ejecting puff balls around nearby.. any ideas?

was the flesh hard or soft? It could be a scleroderma. And I though all edible puffballs had soft white interiors, but I may be wrong.

flesh was soft but the fleshy interior was firm and sort of spongy.
i only found a few that weren't olive-colored inside.. the ones that weren't were a slight yellowish white.
