Ring Around the Pine Tree
    #6093174 - 09/23/06 12:51 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

My apologies for the low quality pics.  I was in a rush, and the lighting sucked!

There are massive rings of these guys growing around my grandparents pine trees, so I collected them and have been drying them on the porch.  Some of the caps are HUGE.  Are these the alleged active amanita muscaria?  They were accompanied by Chicken Fat Suillus, and some others, but I was in awe (and without a camera) upon finding these giant rings of amanitas.

Hopefully I'll get some better pictures of the actual LIVE, colorful, growing mushrooms tomorrow.

most of those dont look like muscaria at all. DO NOT consume those.

i may see a specimen or two in there, but for the most part they dont look right and theres at least 3 different species in that photo.

muscaria has frilly tissues at the top of the bulb, which i only see on a few of those.
