hello everyone,
i have signed up for a kettlebell training class at my gym, its taught by some certified RKB instructor. When I first saw this adverstised at the gym, i googled it for more info, apparently, its one hell of a complete body workout, you get your cardio, wieght training, learn balance and flexibilitym all in one. Also, Russian special forces and many ultimate fighters train with kettlebells, so that really piqued my interest. its supposed to get one really ripped and in shape very quickly, really works your back shouders and you get Popeye sized forearms. the class starts next monday...does anybody have any experience w/ this sort of training?
I will keep everone posted on the results. so far only me and 3 (really fit) females have signed up, that should keep me motivated

I used to use kettleballs. It's not too bad. I remember the video that came with had this guy with a thick russian accent, as well as russian athlete persona, and a hairy ass chest giving examples of exercises.
It depends what you're doing it for I guess. Any training can be good training as long as you believe in it. Whether you add or subtract to it all depends.
I always thought they were like doing One-Arm-Snatch, which you can do with a dumb-bell and would throw them in with my olympic lifts to change it up.
Now if you want to get into traditional Russian training, lets goto Mexico and get juiced up!
Russians have used Cordycep mushrooms to increase their endurance and oxygen intake.
Another supplement is 6-MU.. 6-Methyluracil. Decreases recovery time. good shit.
The Russians were very "primitive" when it came to training. They went to the coal mines and recruited athletes and basically the strong survived while the weak went back to the mines.
East Germany was very scientific, being that they didn't have a significant population to trial n error with. Intense biomechanical and physiological concentration.
I've seen a Russian thrower do a fucking squat on a physio ball with 315lbs. blew my mind. The russians rule but you gotta have the body for that abuse.

kettlebells sounds like a bunch of hype. Russians, those who workout, can be quite strong, but its not the techniques they use, its the mentality. if you train hard then results will come. And if Russian special forces does use kettlebells or not, I dont know, but Im sure thats not the only thing they do. They run, a lot, and do many push-ups and sit-ups. Im sure they do pull-ups as well. They also run naked through the snow.
Is it the kettlebells that make them so tough? Or is it the punishment they put themselves through?
PS, kettlebells supposedly come from Scotland.

ps, regardless of whether kettlebells are a good excercise or not, this is reason enough to go

well, am two days removed from my first class and im still very sore in my traps shoulders, gluts and hamstrings. im mildly sore over the rest of my back and ab region. the instructor went over th basic swings, jerks and snatches. we did a variety of these exersices. Of all the resistance weightlifting and running/cardio i have done in the past 5 or so years, i dont recall ever being this sore for at least a couple years, so the work out really did exercise a variety of muscle groups well. I had to say that I enjoyed it a lot. i got a great cardio work out from the high number of reps for each manuever, the hour went by quite fast.
