I was just reading about Pharmako/Gnosis last night...care to share a few words about it? I'm also curious about What is the What - I was underwhelmed by his other book, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.

"Just a Couple of Days" by Tony Vigorito. Excellent so far. I just finished "VALIS" by Philip K. Dick not long ago. That book will mess with you.

What is the What is good, i think, though I never read his other book. It is fiction/biography, relating the story of a sudanese man's flight from civil war.
Pharmako Gnosis is essentially a book of one man's trip reports. It is poetic, though the poetry deals with that drug-induced realm and thus is not very engaging (i like simple, solid stuff). The art is well chosen and beautiful, and he does give us some history of usage and interesting anecdotes. Also, novel insights. Altogther the book is profound yet mundane. I like it.

Don't really feel like reading all of this, I'll just add my current reads
The Demon - Hubert Selby Jr. (great damn book) Nichomacean Ethics - Aristotle (boooo to college philosophy. Not that the book doesn't get you thinking, but damn it's a HARD read.)

i've finally started on a book that's been on my "to read" list for like 7 years...
"Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn
I abandoned a boook called "Trance" due to absolute boredom... wayyyy too many characters and seemingly extra-plot lines for my liking. Who knows, maybe they aren't extra.. but it was too much to keep my attention past the middle of the book.
