eh all that classic rock is great, but it sure gets old and repetitive when it's all youve listened to for years and years.
Theres tons of great music (for tripping too yes) out there currently being made. You just gotta dig for it.
Ive listened to songs like The Weight and White Room about a thousand times, and thats enough for me. those songs are ingrained in my mind forever, but the magic is sucked out of the whole music experience when we just listen to the same 10-20 classic rock albums over and over...
Variety is the spice of nice

Great Gig in the Sky is indeed one of the trippiest songs of all time. You should hear them do it live.....
Bands I dont like listening to when tripping although they are considered to be some pretty "psychedelic" bands, whether I like or dislike them:
-Jefferson airplane -J joplin -the beatles -Zappa -etc
Stuff I always listen to when tripping:
-Mostly tripped out jazz---> Grant green, Herbie hancock(funk years), Miles Davis(bitches brew is one wild ride), Pat martino, george benson(body talk is a must have), Mingus, D. byrd, ramsy lewis, and even Django R.
- world music: like Ravi Shankar(or his daughter), shakti(mahavishnu john mcloughlin), Taj Mahals album(world music), Kamalesh Maitra, some Bob marley here and there(natural mystic type stuff).
Then there is the stuff you might expect: - I LOVE the Dead, I LOVE Phish(live is best or if you have not heard billy breaths etc, you are missing out(seriously)), Shpongle is pure genius, Santana(I noticed someone mentioned the album lotus, GOOD PICK), and ofcourse floyd(darkside, momentary lapse, division bell, and other more atmospheric floyd stuff).
If any of these artists are knew to you, It would do yall some good to check out some samples on amazon or something.
For example----> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00000255O/ref=pd_bbs_null_1/104-7130343-0049504?v=glance&n=5174
I do love music----> so give these two shakti movies a whirl: http://youtube.com/watch?v=tc_YV_qqvKE http://youtube.com/watch?v=SnUaFaivbPM

"Everything in it's right Place" by Radiohead has been my guide during every one of my trips. It is so thought inspiring and soothing during the trip. Also, the words "everything is in its right place" happens to calm me and recenter me when I'm starting to feel anxious or confused during a trip.

ajna said: any fans of Secret Chiefs 3 here? i forget to mentione them in my first list of recommendations, but they are one of the most amazing groups to hear while tripping. they do everything - jazz, rock, drum and bass, psytrance, intricate death metal... and tie it all together with a fairly heavy middle eastern influenced sound. their album Book M is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I love Secret Chiefs 3, and they are wayyyy better for stoned/tripping listening than Mr. Bungle. Book M is also my favourite.

I like listening to Fantomas when tripping. They are a really intense band, nothing like you've ever heard. Also Marz Volta is good.

shpongle are great for tripping. I'd check out Porcupine Tree though. very psychedelic prog type band, lots of pink floyd/king crimson etc influence. check out their album The Sky Moves Sideways (if the title is any indication). awesome stuff. 18 minute songs and all, and their album Voyage 34 is centered around an acid trip too.

ANyone ever listen to icaros while tripping. Its alot more than you would expect.....
Icaros have many functions. For example, some are meant to specifically create visual images....
Also highly recommended...
