Post some photos IMMEDIATELY. if this is not possible, you need to take the mushrooms that are left to the ER right now, and get checked out. Many species of Amanita look similar, and you could have mistakenly consumed a deadly poisonous look-a-like for the mushroom Amanita muscaria also known as Fly Agaric. Write those names down as well, and keep them with you if you go to the ER.

I hope hilken's okay. Really people don't take mushrooms unless you know 100 percent that theyre safe.

I may be over reacting, but I worry because I am not sure how well you or your friend are in identifying mushrooms.
It is very important that someone with a good eye for identification look at the mushrooms you picked.

good lord Curecat, he said they were fly agaric.
Lets all try to ruin this guys trip like Curecat did......
Shit man. If you picked A muscaria, or A muscaria v. formosa you are only tripping on what you intended...
If you know what you ate no need to worry......
Curecat obviously is a narc, or doesnt know anything about these types of shrooms. Jezzz, thats so annoying.
Your fine. There are no look-a-like mushrooms that look like amanita muscaria, unless youre an idiot.........
Curecat......settle down........

The least this dude could have done was tell people what they look like.
There are no lookalike amanita M's.........
Seriously though, if he ate a deathcap or death angel, then he was the type of guy that should happen to. To damn eager to trip....(knew nothing about the mushroom)......
This dude is clueless about what he ate it would seem, thus all responses will seem clueless.
We just cant help here dude.........

Curecat has every right to worry. Some relatives that look very similar can be very deadly.

Hey, this thread was posted in the Hunting Forum. We get a lot of people who post similar questions in there, like "Hi, i just ate these mushrooms I found in my back yard, wondering what kind they are and when I will feel the effects?"
It is stupid- YES, but these are peoples lives, and this fellow did not specify which variation of Amanita muscaria he had found. If it was not a purely red cap, then yes indeed, there ARE dealy look-a-likes.
I do not intend to scare people unnecessarily. I just don't want anyone to die.
"If you picked A muscaria, or A muscaria v. formosa you are only tripping on what you intended..."
That is very ignorant of you to assume that everyone has the uncanny ability to identify mushrooms, and baseed on your statements, I assume you know little about mushroom hunting.
I'm sorry that this thread along with my advice was redirected into the Psychadelic Experience Forum.
Good day sir.

You just said one of the dumbest things I have ever heard on this site. No not everyone has the ability to identify mushrooms(that makes me far more than ignorant, and learn how to read if you want to insult someone with some spunk). Thats why some people should avoid eating some shroom they picked in their back yard... Good lord man. Ans No they dont look very similare, not to your average idiot mushroom picker.....
This problem is in the hands of the guy who feels so uncertain..
What did they look like? Was he sure of what he was eating?....
Its all so brash.........
There is no advise to be given here unless he speaks up.
From what I gather he has no idea what he took OOORRRR he is just wondering about how his correctly identified amanitas will effect him.
Lots of people have questions about the effects of amanitas. Usually before they take them.
We know NOTHING thus far. If the dude wants to ask a question he might as well actually do that. Im not fucking superman and neither are you.
I have no idea what this dude expects from his thread after eating something and having nothing to say about it.

It sounds like the dude is having second thoughts about eating his shrooms. I dont see any indication that he thought he had picked the wrong variety of amanita.
If he did, he should have saved himself the paranoia of wondering about it and logging on to the internet. Its best to make a good post if you really need an answer. Otherwise, just enjoy your trip....
Something is wrong here......SOmething that doesnt make much sense.

YOU.
Good lord man. He obviously has reservations, which is why he posted the question. HE did not know anything about them, as he said that his friend told him they were fine to eat.
You are giving far too much credit to the average mushroom hunter. I don't want to dig up old threads exemplifying the ignorance and ill judgement of many people who post with mushroom ID requests, but I will if you persist with this irrational sense of reliability that 3 sentences has convinced you.

They look like the right species... Good.
Will a moderator please repost this in the Hunting Forum to get (reliable) second opinions?
Thank you, hilken, for the prompt response by posting photos. I think you will be okay.

Yep hilken, after your edit I can tell you that those are a muscaria.
99.9% sure. It would take an artist to turn a death cap into an A Muscaria..........

You're arguing that because in the end, he did in fact have A. muscaria, we should not have worried?? Great.
I'm glad we don't have more brilliant thinkers like you.

They all appear to be a horribly ragged bunch of muscaria.
Yageman - no need to flip out. When the guy first posted there weren't even any pics, and he didnt exactly sound too reassured, - it looks like joined just to ask that.

Yes, those look like Amanita muscaria to me, too.
Incidentally, there is also a lookalike species of Amanita for the red capped ones. The main difference is in the appearance of the stems.
Worse, we know that we have tons of undescribed species in North America. It would not surprise me at all to read of a new species that happens to closely resemble A. muscaria.
Anybody who intends to eat any species of Amanita needs to be 100% certain of their identification. Amanitas cause the vast majority of mushroom fatalities. Most Amanita species have not had the toxins in them investigated, and a new deadly species was discovered in 1992, causing damage to the kidneys and liver.
Happy mushrooming!
