A Sydney-based man who ate two garden slugs as a dare during a party narrowly escaped death from a rare form of meningitis, an often fatal swelling around the brain.

The case is the first record of a human acquiring the disease from slugs in Sydney, although other mammals in the area have been known to become infected.

Would drying prevent this damn it fucking slugs im so pissed. The mushrooms r huge.

Oh also fungus is a common food for slugs I found out wile googleing so it isnt that weird lol.

Well there slime sure is hard to get off. I got some on my finger tips and then it ended up on the middle of my hand after washing them. Then it was a bitch to get off and I had to mix salt and soap to get it off lol. Maybe salty water? Should I wash em when they are wet or dry? Although meheh has a low post count and could just be mouthing what he would do and may not have a clue lol =P.

I wouldn't listen to that.

I wouldn't eat them, unless you want to make yourself a statistic for WA.

I could be wrong, I guess slug slime may not be the worse thing in the world, but until you get someone that has a definitive "slug slime is ok" (or whatever has gotten on them) I'd suggest not to.

Good Luck on that, sorry to hear about it

Haha.

Ok well, in the mean time, I guess just keep googling it, I can't see anything immediately killer about it...but christ there are so many diseases and the like they could be carrying.

How long have you had the shrooms now? They might start to rot soon because of this.

But slugs harbour Angiostrongylus cantonensis - also known as the rat lungworm - which can cause the potentially fatal brain inflammation.

So would drying prevent this? Water harbors life drying kills it? Maybe im no germ exert RR I know you know wake up.

Haha ya might have no choice for the sake of health.

No mushroom is worth dying, or that likelyhood of dying.

Patience for that bigger, better mushroom.

Well, look two posts back, what about the diseases they can carry?

That anything that could eat your fungi could be carrying.

Haha well,

again, no matter how safe any of these things are;

the slugs, the bugs and the holes you've dug-

The can still carry deadly bacteria.

Just be cautious

We don't need any more headliners in the news stating that someone else has died "from the direct effects of a drug"

Every mistake we make is a win for them.

We musn't give them slack, always wear a helmet and kneepads.

Haha yea you'll have to for further grows either way, I havn't messed with any brands or I'd suggest one.

Just make sure to read the ingrediants, wouldn't want more mushroom enemies being added.

Good Luck, again.

Well not even just the rain, just in the 'earthly' movements of everyday life it'll be spread.

That's why you'd need to get something that doesn't hurt the mushrooms.

Try looking for some Diatomascous Earth, it's a great water retainer and I'm pretty sure it's used for slugs and the like to repell them.
