what the fuck is a 64bit firewall?

I don't use either. I just use a hardware router and block every port except 80 443 & 33496.

As for a/v .. well I'm on linux so its not an issue (at the moment)

Kinda like hiring a crackhead to guard the bank vault at night when nobody else is around.

I love hearing, "But I don't understand how I got infected with malware... I was running *insert name of your favorite windows based software port blocker here*."

A firewall, by definition, has two network interfaces and routes traffic between the two interfaces. If your "firewall" is running on your desktop computer, then it isn't a firewall, but a port blocker.

Amen. It annoys the fuck out of me when people who are completely computer illiterate rattle on about firewalls and anti-virus bs. I've worked in computer security for a good 5 years now and everytime I hear it I want to throttle the bastards.

Amatoxin here be merry...
everyone else...shhh...unless you can help the man...geez...pfft

running right now on my machine..(x64 edition Windows Pro)

is Tiny Firewall x64...only one I have found so far that works well with 64 bit windows and doesn't crash...I can make a torrent if you can't find it

as for A/V....Avast! is running smooth on it

any other ?'s please post and I will try to help ya

I also agree with you others that have posted but....As for myself I have a standalone Smoothwall hardware firewall/router between me and the outside world....But for those who can't afford or don't want to worry about the hardware setup... software firewalls are there...

They have gotten better over the years I must say...Able to stop DDoS attacks and someone who masks their Ip and the such...if you have a 32 bit Win Sygate is tops...
