 Is it cool to go to a bar by yourself?

Someone told me awhile ago that guys should ideally go to bars in groups of at least 3, because if you show up by yourself it looks creepy. I find it hard to believe anybody would pay enough attention or give enough of a shit for that to matter. Is this some kind of unwritten social more or is it just bullshit?

Not that I like bars a whole lot, I used to go out alone now and then.
Clubs/raves/dance events? I'd go out alone ALL the time. I love flying solo.

I went to a bar by myself once, fucking sucked. Drank my beer as fast as I could and left reazling how stupid that was.

Psst: The idea is to socialize with other bar goers once you go inside.
I usually do something like yell "Sorry I'm late!" at the top of my lungs when I come through the door..

nah lots of people go to the bar by themselves, just keep going to the same bar, then you'll meet the staff and never feel alone. We have a bunch of guys that come in alone all the time, I don't think much of it.

Going to bars alone is the coolest way to go to a bar. Whenever I am alone it is anly a matter of time before a nice lookin lady is sitting next to me starting a conversation.
It never happens when I am with my friends.

You need to have a high level of confidence to go to a bar alone I think.
When I was uhm.. manic, I had no problems going to a bar alone. Had a great time. But now when I'm 'normal' again I don't have the confidence and I'd feel uneasy.

I personally don't like going to bars by myself, simply because I'm not very social with people I don't know, so I feel awkward and withdrawn. But if you're good at meeting people and introducing yourself, then I don't see any problem with it.

Beer doesn't help everybody to lose their senses and fears. Doesn't help me much, makes me feel nice though. I only lose myself when I'm blackout drunk.

I find the best way esp if you are a bit introverted, is to have a few drinks before going into the bar. i find it eases the nerves and makes it easier to start conversations. also a good number of times i find i dont even have to start the convos. just go in, chill, have some drinks, and meet some people. its not wierd to go by yourself, i mean shit you go to a bar to meet people and be social, if it were simply to drink with people you already know you could do that at home for alot cheaper.
