My did usually sits at home at night and drinks until he can't function, then he watches the screen saver till he passes out. It's really sad, and not in a "boo hoo" way.
Today I got home before he passed out and he asked me to show him how I-Tunes works. So I agreed to show him. I started to explain it to him like I would a person that had a basic knowledge of how computers works. Which should be a good way for a person with a BA in something involving C++, a person like him. He got really confused quickly and asking me to give him rather algorithmic directions, so rather than him having to ask me every detail I just started explaining it algorithmically. He got offended because I was talking to him like a child I guess. It's so fucking retarded.
He hides his alcoholism too, I really don't give a shit if he drinks, all I ask of him is to go to a bar, drink with friends. Habits don't seem as much of an addiction in social people as they do in non-social people, I think. That pretty much sums it up. Alcoholics are retards.
He tried to plug the i-pod coard into the wrong side of the i-pod, that was pretty funny.

Thats a hard one to break. I did that shit for about 20 years.Never missed a day of work for it either. Took it past party animal to party viking. Sailed thur the fog. Decided if I want to see the last 25 I have to give that shit up. Now and again I have a bottle. Being on probation is so boring.

whats good about drinking is that even when people say stuff like ' you're a weak person ' the best thing to get your mind off critisicm like that is a bottle, thats why they never learn, even when you start judging them.

I think I'm taking my first steps to becoming like your father. I still maintain right now though. My regiment goes like this: Sun-Tues no drinking, Weds+Thurs 2 beers, Fri+Sat drunk. I don't really drink a lot yet, but the thing is I really look forward to when I can drink and really, really look forward to when I can get drunk.
The funny thing is, I blame a little bit of it on society. I used to not like drinking very much. (Read: I was a pothead. I got low at least once-a-day, back in the day.) But now I have a job that has random drug tests, so I can't poke smot anymore. So I drink. A lot. (They don't test for 'shrooms though, so I do those too, but only quarterly.)

What I was getting at was that while drinking with friends he in more likely to drink less so he can function and be social. He will also no longer have the warped opinions of the satirical news sites that he frequents and believes are true. The internet is a wasteland, you should take everything you read as a grain of salt, and he doesnt. He's one of those people that everyone talks about that takes what the see as the law. He's offended by the shows that expose TV/media for what it is, a wasteland.

My dad is an alcoholic also. He is a completely different person when sober, but when hes tanked I try my best to stay away from him. He drinks because hes despressed, and its like watching your father die while hes still breathing. Hes really a good hearted person, but the booze turns him into a bitter man. Everyone loves him when hes sober, but after a few drinks they turn on him and treats him like a dog. I love my father, but I know this will go on until he dies. Hes bullshitted his way through countless rehabs program.
The other day, he said Im the only reason he doesnt kill himself.
