so, I really dig on the stretched lobes and I'm thinking of starting. anyone do it before? one question, do you need to have your ears pierced at first or can a piercer do it & then taper the lobe a little bit? or do you have to wait until the original piercing heals?
just curious...

I'm sure it depends on how big you go, but the answer is NO.
Something to think about when you're old and grey.

I've heard that anything more than 2g is the point of no return. smaller than that, and it'll heal after awhile. depends on the individual body, though.

i stretched mine a little, and when i took em out they went back.
and if you jsut got your ears pierced you should let them heal completely before you stretch otherwise it could build up scar tissue n shit.

I like the look, but I'd rather not have my earlobes all stretched out afterwards.

yes you should have them pierced for a bit proir.
strecthing will heal depending how high of a gauge you go. anything up to or a double zero and over is gonna have a pretty touch time healing.

Both of my lobes were at one time stretched to 9/16". I took out the tunnels about 6 years ago (and haven't worn earrings since), and I can still easily fit a 2 gauge through the holes. They've mostly closed to slits, but I can see them. Also, I wore a 00 gauge barbell through my tongue for about five years, and since I took it out almost three years ago, I can still put a 10 gauge barbell through the hole. A lot of stretching is is irreversible.
I took mine out primarily because I got tired of having to explain it all to people and tell them about the process. Before doing the stretches, I hadn't figured what an attention grabber it would be and I really fucking hated that.
All of mine were done by myself using makeshift implements and special tapers I had a friend make (he was a local tattooist/piercer). However, I could've just saved the time and effort and had them pierced at a zero gauge with a dermal punch. But either way works fine. Good luck, and if you go above a 0ga. or so, I hope you want your lobes lookin' like that for a long time.
