live sound. I used to be a recording guy, then became a live sound guy and realized that even the worlds best recording engineer doesn't have half the knowledge of your regular FOH engineer.

thats great. I'm still learning as much as I can (n00b) but I'm having a blast with recording. I'm did vocals for the first time . It was alot different working on them..and took alot of mixing to help balance the vocals with everything thing else. Do you have your own home studio?

no, not really. recording is just boring to me now that I have had to do the exact same thing and gotten the same quality, but having a deadline of 3 minutes to do it.

I'm sure its intense. I have yet to do anything live (besides orchestra concerts from school).. but its looking like I'm going to be playing live this summer. Should be quite the experience

1) don't cup the mic if you are singing.
2) plug all the way into a DI if using one.
3) if you are a drummer, when soundchecking, beat the shit out of the drums, don't tap them like the lazy fuckers you are.
4) if you are an electric guitarist, ask the engineer/s if your amp is too loud and tell them how delighted you would be to turn it the fuck down.

lucky for me I'm a keyboardist!!  Tho I will be doing a bit of back up singing and harmonizing with someone else's voice so ill note your mic comment.
I always wondered.. how do you put on a good show if your drums are programed in a sequencer? I think we might just get a drummer and practice with him just for the live shows. But that would be awesome if we could some how keep my own beats. But i somehow feel like that wouldn't work live.. with improvising and all.. perhaps a live drummer would be best.

If you're super serious about quitting smoking then I'd recommend not doing drugs for the first couple days...they'll only add to your cravings!

well, every now and then I get a band that has "tracks" which are really just drum beats. It really never goes over well, even with a very good 5 mix monitor system we have. It also makes your songs very robotic and never allowing much new improvisation or such.
I don't reccomend it, but it is possible, depending on the venue.
