The first time I ever heard about magic mushrooms was like 8 years ago. I was in the car, my dad was driving. There was a radio station on and they were saying the news and shit. They said "And some teenagers were arrested in this park, partying, etc. They found marijuana and magic mushrooms"
Marijuana I knew. Magic Mushrooms? wtf is this shit? hahaha
but it was 6 years later that i would actively search out what they were all about. Shroomery a hoy!

I couldn't really pinpoint when I first heard of them.....I was a pretty sheltered youngin, so I wouldn't be supriesed if I was in my late teens before hearing much of anyhting about them.

I heard about them as a kid but all i knew was that it fucked you up... I learned all the facts when the internet came out.

As a child I had an uncle who was the "black sheep" of the family. He was in and out of jail, mostly on DUIs, and the rest of the family thought he was a general fuck-up (which was probably acurate). One day I remember him talking to my dad about 'magic mushrooms'. He raved about them and as a child I could not figure out what was so great. I remember thinking "Damn, those things must taste good!" 
It wasn't until about 10 years later I figured out what he was talking about!

I heard about them as a little kid, although I was 19 before I tried them. I remember reading about them somewhere.

I was driving down the road with my dad and I saw a sign that said "MAGIC MUSHROOMS" and so I asked him what they were and he was like WHAT?? So surprised that I would know what they were at that age and then I showed him the sign. I have no clue what that sign was for to this day. I think it had a price on it and everything, maybe just some sort of advertising scheme for growing fast gourmets.

i had a teacher that told us about different rituals ancient civilizations did and what they ate/drank for religous purposes. this was either 4th or 5th grade, i dont remember much.
i can vividly remember the first time i heard about LSD. i had smoked pot by sixth grade and when one cop came in and was telling us about drugs, i remember him saying "LSD makes you see things that aren't really there." i was sold.  i can remember wanting to do acid when i was like 13, thank god i didnt until i was 17. it probably would have destroyed my fragile little mind.

I don't know. I must have heard about them as a little kid, because I don't remember but yet I knew what they were before I tried and did research on them.

I had a friend that used to take them. For years she would ask me to take some with her and we even went hunting for them once. I never did though.
Then a couple of years ago I was led to this site and now I know more about them then I ever thought I would.
YAY for the shroomery.
I took mushrooms for the first time a year ago. They were from my own grow. I'm so proud of myself.

Its hard to pinpoint, I'm sure I've heard of them for a long time. But, I think the first I heard of them, and actually took notice/interest is when I was researching MDMA.
I had been going to clubs/raves for 2 or 3 years, knew people around me were doing drugs/etc, so started to research into MDMA on Erowid, and as a result - I started to poke into other substances on the site to see what was up.
However, I first heard of LSD when I was in grade 4 or so.

I was 12 years old. My sisters friends talked me into drinking some tea. I had no idea what a hallucinogen was. Had never even smoked pot at the time. I had drank alcohol a half dozen times. It was an unexpected experience, and it is one that I chased for years to come...

When I was in middle school, I saw kids wearing these mushroom necklaces and talking about "shrooms," and I wondered what was so great about mushrooms. At that time, I thought that mushrooms were either edible or poisonous. I had no idea that some of them were hallucinogenic, and even if I did, I probably would've been scared of them(I had yet to try weed at the time).
