Just a thought here.
What if you added some cow manure to water then boiled it (to kill the contams) and then added it to your substrate mix. I'll bet that there would be lots of nutrients added to help the shrooms. Has anybody tried this before? If so, what were the results. If not, what do guys think about this.

Hell yeah ....... dung water is loaded with newts.... give it a try in a PF jar...... use the same water formula.. just use dung water instead of plain water. Worm poo drained works as good poo water too. Substrate will be rather dark in the jar.. but that`s a plus when you are looking for something white

I have been adding dung water to my rye grain for a while with good results. Actually I use some of the residule water that I presoaked my wheatstraw/dung before pasteurizing. I use 125-150 ml water from my stream added to 25-50 ml straw/dung water per quart jar of rye. I natuarally sterlize this then use the colonized quart rye to innoculate my dung/straw bulk substrate. As the nutrients in the rye jars are going to vary as the dung varies (what the horses have eaten) I am able to carry out grain to grain transfers far longer than if I just used rye and distilled water without the mycelium senscing. The mushrooms seem more hardy also.
