My mom just called me and said she found an IM conversation on the computer, to the extend of "I only got 20" "How many needles do you have" "You always ask me that" "I wanna try shooting some"
He completely denies it but I'm not stupid. I don't know what to do.....

Come home one day and find your brother dead in the armchair with a needle out of his arm,
or,
kick the bloody shit out of him for banging heroin?
My best friend of about nine years just got into heroin and crack (again). He's been in rehab five times. He just stole some prescription meds from myself, his mother (divorced), and pain pills from his father who is dying of cancer.
I really don't know wtf to do either. =/ Kicking his ass seems fair, b/c now I have to pay for my meds since insurance won't cover it.

I know he was selling dope for a while. He just spun some story about the kid was looking to shoot blah blah I'm still really pissed he's fucking with that shit.

Wow... im shocked to hear you all reacting this way.. What if this was a post on a christian board or some crap and someone discovered his brother was smoking pot? Ill bet the majority of replies would be "kick his ass". How would you like to have your ass kicked for making your own decision to do a drug? If you understand why you should be able to legally smoke weed and trip on acid, and not looked down upon for your lifestyle choice, you should understand why one should be free to choose their destiny when it comes to IV drugs. Dont get me wrong, if he is addicted then you should talk to him and convince him to stop, but dont turn to violence to settle hte situation.

Im shocked too.
Heroin overdoses dont happen that often as compared to other deaths.
I liked heroin, and I used it for a few years without dying. Granted I had an addiction to it....
Its just another drug.

I have been addicted to heroin and cocaine on and off for almost 15 years and if at any point somoene kicked my ass in an attempt to "knock some sense into me", It wouldnt have a chance of working at making me quit, it would just piss me off and possibly cause me to plot revenge. If someone is addicted to heroin they have to want to get off it themselves.

He can fucking drink some tea or smoke some, he doesn't need to be fucking mainlining the shit. He already has a problem if he feels the need to pump himself full of it with a needle. Theres a good chance he'll end up dead or worse off than ever before if this goes on without anyone doing anything. Beat the shit out of him, take all his drugs, and if he has an addiction get his ass into rehab, he'll thank you later, and even then you'll have to help him to not relapse.
People who allow themselves to get addicted are obviously not mature enough for drug use. Thier habits put fear and stress on the people who love and care about them. I might sound like a prick, but I know I would never want to come to my brothers house and find him dead with a band around his arm and a needle in his hand.

WOW, there is no evidence that this guy is even ADDICTED, all that started this post is a discussion about needles on AIM and suddenly your talking about this guy ending up dead with a needle in his arm? Who knows if he has enough knowledge to use drugs responsibly - Using drugs IV is not neccesarily an indicator of someone whos irresponsible and addicted, they can be used safely (and more importantly people should be able to choose to experiment with this route of drug administration without the worst being assumed about them). If one is smart about dosing then it is difficult to overdose and die, as long as you use safe procedures like test shots to prevent new dope from surprising you. Anyways, i just think you guys are overreacting a bit.
