spores stuck to syringe wall??
    #5544522 - 04/22/06 04:14 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

I currently have two syringes. A B+ and a texas. The other day I was looking at them and noticed that the B+ has tons of spores floating around after I shook it up. The texas had hardly any and I noticed black dots stuck in the wall. I shook it up for a while and none came off. Has anyone heard of this before? Do different strains have different size pores and I just can't see the texas ones, or am I just to worried about it?

Also I innoculted 12 jars of Koh Samoi a week ago and followed the pf tek perfectly. My cakes don't look to moiste and were cohesive when I put them in the jars. I keep the temp at 84 during the day and around 80 at night. It has now been a week and there is no sign of growth. Is it still a good chance they will work or does the chance of them working go down each day after about a week? I am probably just worried for no reason, and am just to anxious.
thanks for the help.

Try sucking sterile air (use a lighter) to create and air bubble and see if you can shake those spores up.

The only reason youre seeing more spores in one that another is just cause well, they used more spores to make the syringue than the other. That doesnt mean that if you cant see them it doesnt have any since their microscopic.

For the jars you just pricked, wait it out a little longer. Make sure theyre kept on optimal temperatures and that theres no light hitting them. Chances are its colonized from the center already.

No light hitting them? aren't you suppose to put them in indirect sunlight for a couple hours a day? Other than that there is no light hitting them. Thanks for the help

Not for colonization. Introduce light and lower temperatures after %100 colonization to induce pinning.

Oh yea, and even after your jars look fully colonized, let them sit for 2-3 days longer. Then introduce all the above and birth once you see a pin or two form.

I just read a couple of the guides on basic cultivation and they said that indirect sunlight is ok and the pf tek for a simple mind reccomends it 4 to 12 hours a day. Does anybody else do this, or do they keep the jars in complete darkness during the incubation?
