ok i was wondering if this fluffy bright white lumpy stuff on my casing is a contam. i have been thru two flushes wit this casing. the second flush the caps all opened and im sure deposited some spores. could this be from the spores that fell? maybe the myc is trying to grow from the spores? it does look a little odd tho.
anyone got any links on white contams? UPDATE:: now that i look at some contam posts it looks like the beginning stage of trich. cut that baby out real quick lol
green mold starts off like you have described.. it turns green once it starts producing spores.. basically it looks like miniature mycelium is the best i can describe.. once you have come to recognize it you will know every time

if you are sure that you have a contaminant on a cake, then there is no reason not to try and cut it out and see if everything will be cool.. i have had mixed success with this. sometimes i'll take a little piece out and it will be gone, other times i get up the next morning and the entire thing is a big chunk of mold heh
