grains in bale of straw

I dont think this should be posted in advanced but no one in mushroom cultivation could answer my question ... does it matter if your bale of straw has pieces with grain on it when you do pasturization or are you going to get contams forsure if you dont take out every grain ... my friend tries his best to get all the grains out but it's kinda hard

I think that if you use a healthy spawn ratio, it will not matter.

with grains left in the substrate is likely to get contaminated
better to find a cleaner source, unless your frien is going to sterilize it...

they cant find another source really... it took them long enough to find this one ... He used 3 quarts of grain spawn to about 2-3 quarts straw
