I think Jimmy Hendrix would be my pick ,,, I would say the Gratefull dead.... but I don't always like to call them rock, its to chill to be rock IMO

Depending on my mood when you ask I would say it is very close between Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, or Led Zeppelin.
Tough to decide the ultimate best of these three.
