Sclerotia Tampanesis - Black Possible Contamination

I am new here and am seeking some help. I'm a new grower as well and have a mycobag of tampanesis sclerotia I have been growing for nearly 3 months. I recently checked it and noticed that the top was white with the outer part starting to turn brown/black and then the middle part is dark black, almost an inky type feel to it. The bottom still appears to be the original substrate (from mycofactory) that hasn't been colonized yet. These pictures are blurry but I hope they help. It appears to me (I don't know what I'm talking about though) that its just that some of the sclerotia are getting really ripe but I'm afraid to harvest some of it when theirs still uncolonized substrate. Also, although I haven't read of any contaminates that form dark black sclerotia I want to make sure this isn't going to hurt me when I consume it.
