Smoking Passion Flower

I am not able to find passion flower in my area unless it comes in the formof a capsule. i recently picked up some fresh-freeze-dried passion flower passiflora spp. flower & leaf capsules, there is 200mg per capsule. the product is made by electic institute. i was wondering- if i simply dumped the fresh freeze-dried passion flower out of the capsule and smoked it would this be the same as smoking passion flower bought not in capsules ? the stuff inside the capsule is finely crushed green powder.it sais it ONLY has passion flower in it.
anyway i was also wondering about how much should passion-flower be smoked for the desired passion-flower feel. how long does the passion flower last? has anyone else here ever enjoyed the herb passsion flower?

A head shop near me sells passionflower joints as mushroom-boosters. Haven't tried them though.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'd just like to say that smoking passion flower is pretty nice... I feel really good right now, definitely not placebo.

i grow a few passiflora species. you want to smoke pasiflora incarnata and it supposedly contains a mild sedative called passiflourine and either harmaline or harmine, the mao inhibitor used in ayahuasca brews, but not enough to work on it's own. you can find it growing wild in the southern states in fields and along fences and creeks. it has tasty fruit too. i even think that the universe is a passion vine and our solar system is just an atom in it and our galaxy is a cell. you have made a wise plant choice. learn from it. they have the most complex and beautiful flowers of all plants. the name refers to the passion of christ since the spanish missionaries discovered it and sent drawings back to europe or spain. all of the parts of the flower break down into numbers that depict the crucifiction. even the leaves were thought to be the hands of the believers or some shit. i'm not a christian by the way.

I am currently testing it with the caplets from Saw Palmetto company.
The caplets are 360mg and have marginal effects at best when taken orally.
I just opened a caplet and smoked it on top of some pipe tobacco and definitely had a positive mood shift. The smoke is very hot and harsh, but seemed to clear my lungs. Layering the powder from the caplet on top of the tobacco prevented sucking in the powder. I will continue testing, let me know what you've discovered because I am impressed.

It contains Harmine and Harmaline, and it's a pretty enjoyable experience. Maybe you should try reading up on peoples experiences with it or try it yourself so you don't come off like such a condescending prick.

Hit up your backyard, though I've heard that some varieties of it aren't as pleasant. You can also find it at pretty much any whole food store for extremely cheap.

leaves and stems contain the highest concentration of alkaloids, if i recall correctly
you can find passiflora sp. almost anywhere but be careful, the ones beside incarnata have some icky glycosides that'll give you a headache if you make a tea with 'em. I had to discover this the hard way. Also the fruits are pretty tasty and have enough alkaloids in 'em to fuck with (I wouldn't smoke them though)

Have any of you guys noted a tolerance build-up to P-flower? Chemically, I'm not sure if it's possible, but I certainly felt the flower strong the first time I took it orally and even stronger the first time I smoked it. Subsequent attempts all had little, if any, effect even with much higher levels.
Any input based on experience is appreciated.

I smoke passion flower frequently and I have not noticed a tolerance. When I first started smoking it I didn't notice the effects as much as I do now. They are very subtle, but after smoking it a couple times I noticed the changes in the way my body felt. I just ordered 4 more ounces of it and cant wait to make some mixes =D. I like to mix it with tobacco and hopefully with the skullcap I just received.
(I just got arrested for possession of cannabis so I don't want to take anymore chances for awhile.) =P

I heard that you won't feel the effects of Passionflower too much if you currently have THC in your system. Is that true, or does anyone here by experience think so otherwise?
