Right. Metabolites. But still, you're not going to be tested for LSD unless someone has a strong suspicion that you're on LSD. So, without more to this story, it could be classified as BS.
I think the only dangers LSD has that mushrooms don't are:
It is more recreational. This is debatable, but many will agree with me. I know people who could take LSD 3 times a week, if they had the time. The same people will have a good mushroom trip, but it will freak them out a bit. They might not do it for a month, hell... they might not do *any* drugs for a month.
When we look at the data for people with HPPD or flashbacks, even in a casual way that we percieve the ratio of people with these conditions: LSD to mushrooms... LSD will look more prevelant. Like I said before, I think it's an easier drug to "abuse". I know a guy who stole a sheet from a dealer. Used it up in two or three weeks. You just wouldn't find many people doing something like that with mushrooms, though I'm not claiming it to be impossible.
During the 60s and 70s, acid was MUCH more common than mushrooms. Like it has been said, perhaps the lacing was done back in the day, because mushrooms were exotic and harder to come by. These easy teks, that even a 10 year old could do, did not exist, nor did the kind of spore distribution we see now. Acid, on the other hand, was EVERYWHERE at one time. Not only that, but it was dirt cheap. You could trip out for a few days without needing to break the bank. It is no surprise you see an abundance of users who burnt themselves out in the 60s.

Many years ago I had a couple mushroom experiences. Now recently I have grown my own and tripped many times. The trips off my own mushrooms have been very different from the couple from several years ago. I really wounder if I might have had some acid. I remember seeing everything melt. That is supposed to be more an LSD thing that mushy thing. I guess I just need to find some real LSD and compare.

I've seen plenty of things melt on shrooms.  Every trip are differnt anyway. I doubt you got acid on normal mushrooms.

Why would you lace storebought with LSD to make money? If you were gonna do that you could charge an arm and a leg for just the LSD cuz its much harder to come by these days.

I believe it's out of your brain in 20 minutes or something like that, but it can be stilled be tested for in urine a couple days after the trip. However, they don't test for it unless they think you've been specifially doing lsd.
As mentioned by another it is the metabolites they test for....not the LSD. Depending on certain factors(and which source you believe), even those can be back to normal within 1hr-72hrs.

Interesting, since LSD tests are not testing for LSD, they are looking for LSD metabolites that according to erowid can be tested for 24-75 hours.
That's another good point which tells us that story is bogus.

I know this is an outdated post, but it sure erupted out of control fairly quickly since I last checked it :P
But I still wanna throw in my two cents..
I don't think mushrooms or acid really do much damage, but there has never been much respectable research on what it does. This question probably won't be awnsered in the near future, but this thread does show the common perception that most uninformed people think LSD is worse than mushrooms. I personally prefer lucy because she lets me "feel" music, something I have never been able to achieve on mushrooms. To each his own, is what I say, but you drug dealers out there quit fucking people over and making money off them like this. YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.
And that is all I have to say.
