Found these in the park a few weeks back. We were pretty excited when we first saw them from a distance but as we got closer we realized they were lookalikes. What are they?

good call on not eating those! Those are definitely not Ps. cyans, those are Galerina autumnalis, a deadly lookalike!
always be 100% sure of what you are picking before you eat it... and if you're not sure, a spore print will always tell you what you need to know.
Ps. cyans will have a purple spore print while G. autumnalis will have a rusty brown print.

Hmm.....hard to tell exactly without a proper spore print and a more thorough description , but they really don't look much like Galerina autumnalis. Particularly the wavy cap is a feature Galerinas don't show.
Assuming the purple things at the top of the mushrooms are flaoting spores that settled there (purple) and seeing the wavy cap they are most likely Psilocybe cyanescens.
Did they blue?

Those are definately not Cyanescens, I have come across the same mushroom before and it does look suprisingly similar - but they definately arent active.

I have actually seen Galerinas with wavy caps on more than one occasion. Especially as they age, or if they survive a freeze, Galerinas can show a diversity of appearance. Check out this one
It clearly has a wavy cap, as does its buddy in the background. Although it is strange to see an entire patch with wavy caps like that. I think a sporeprint would help clear this up.

A look at the stems could settle the Galerina question.

AS Shroomydan sai Quote:

The stems of cyans are white and the stems of galerinas are orangy and cinnamon colored or ochraceous.
Galerinas will have a ring and cyanescens do not.
Also, they are not autumnalis. Maybe marginatas with upturned caps.
Most galerina autumnalis will be conical to bell shaped in the caps.

I believe partial veil was the correct answer here. I'll take catagory "Colors that end in urple" Alex.

i was 99% sure they weren't cyans. See you can see that they have stems, which mj says, "cyans dont have stems." I also didnt think they were gals

My7 bad, I am having eye problems and computer problems and somehow I was backwards in my posts editing. Here is the correct note.
Galerinas will have a ring and cyanescens do not.
Also, they are not autumnalis. Maybe marginatas with upturned caps.

Here's a few cyans for comparison, although they always look different when grown in tubs.

I've seen alot of Galerina's with age that get wavy. They can even cluster like cyans.
anyways, the color of the caps in the first cap made me say not cyans, but the stems in that 2nd pic look VERY white. Did they bruise blue readily? Take a spore print! Those are actually likely cyans, taking a closer look at those stems.

That second picture says to me, I've got an annulus next to my stipe and I'm not afraid to use it.

To help with identification, try to pick some and bring them home so that you can make certain observations that may not have been apparent in the field. The main thing being a spore print color. Not making one causes unnecessary confusion. That alone should pretty much clear things up. Also, it wouldn't hurt to get some better pictures (some showing the stem in more detail etc), check for any bruising, and compile a brief description of features.
