Hows bout dog shit(the strain). Doesnt sound all that pleasant but it is VERY potent. Some really like the smell. The dankest weed ive ever tried smelled a little bit like a skunk, but with a by far dominant barf smell. My favorite indica was the G3 strain from N. CALi.... Citrus, barfsmell, and the most healthy looking green hash ive ever seen on a plant. They would make hash out of it and it would turn out neon green(the stuff the trimmers get off there fingers).
Lysergic_Milkman said, "A pure Cannabis sativa strain will smell like sweet or citrus fruit, sometimes with a strong piney scent. Indica buds will also smell like fresh pine needles, only they will also smell like skunk jizz and cat piss (overpoweringly so in dank buds)". --------------------> this is very true. Sativas produce less hash, dont make you cough as much, and generally taste better(more mild, pleasant, less like hash). Pure Indicas will always be my favorite. They just seem to be alot more potent to me, although ive smoked some sativas that are at the same level of "super HIGH THC content".
Its kinda funny, the best nugs I ever smoked were actually a pure indica of some sort that smelled exactly like vomit/diarrhea/hash. Im not just saying that for effect. They were an almost brownish dark green and very sticky, almost prickly looking(like flames). These came from N. Cali too.

True, indica does have a higher delta-9-THC content (Atomic Northern Lights (pure Cannabis indica strain) has the highest THC content of any bud), but it also has an even larger amount of "stoney" cannabinoids, making the high more couch-lock, regardless of the delta-9-THC.

i have heard a lot of talk about which strain actually has the highest THC content. no one really knows for sure. in my area we mostly get sativa buds, im sure they are hydrids but they are predominately sativas. all of the chronic bud coming through my town is sativa, ive only had an indica high in about 7 months

any strain can have the highest THC content, it all depends on how well its grown.
If you pay enough care and attention to it, you will get results.

That is true. But Indica is on average more potent. Thats just counting the dank varieties of both plants. Most medicinal growers grow indica. There is a reason the hash is more potent than the plant. Indica plants are how they make GREAT hash. I know that the size and number of the resin glands has little to do with potency. So its back to your point, it how they are grown. I know a master grower in Cali, he grows all indicas and one or 2 choice strains of sativa per year. He doesnt only do that for himself, he grows legally, and thats what people want to buy. (MEd-grow) He knows more about pot than anybody. Showed me all kinds of nugs. Indica is different than sativa. Indica, not only being more populare, but more stinky and potent if grown right.
High quality sativas are just as good one could assume. The second best pot ive ever tried was from maine(US), it was a dark-green hashy sativa stored in a paper bag that smelled better than any indica Ive ever smoked. It was not more potent, just a far more enjoyable smoke. It got me almost as high as the best of the indicas.

i agree 100% with this. i hate it when people say that hydro buds are the best no matter what, or that any one strain is "the best". it all depends on how it was grown. if the grower took care of the plant and treated it well, then it is gonna be chronic. i have smoked bad hydro and good hydro, bad outdoor and bad indoor.
its all about how it was grown!!!

I should have been more clear. When I say that Atomic Northern Lights is the most potent, I mean it is the most potent (that I know of) plant recorded, as in an individual plant that was tested for THC and compared to others was found to have the highest content, not "Atomic Northern Lights is the most potent strain."

There is lots Sensi Star in our hood which supposed to be close to 100% sativa.
Customers prefer indica buds as they equate them to being 'more stoney'
Whatever. Get busted for pot in our hood and its a slap on the wrist and a ticket in the mail.

No no NO!
Hahaha...yeah but what commercial grower relies on a field of 20ft Sativas for their crop? At that height, they are about 6-10ft wide and branched like a pine tree. I was talking about highest yield in a guerilla or indoor environment, the most common sources of commercially available MJ.

Yes, of course, I knew that. That's why I said "proportionally". For the small size of Cannabis indica, it gives an incredible yield.

I used to be so spoiled. This is of course before my friends went to prison and the DEA came into our town (seriously). The worst bud I would smoke was sensi star. Now I am forced to slum it or pay ri-cock-ulous prices. Fuck that shit. Oh yeah, the best bud I ever smoked came from a total white trash grower that knew his shit and had been featured in High Times, who would have thought?

I have a little bit of both right now, I got a hybrid and some dank ass sativa from a friend. Honestly the smell is right on with what has been described earlier. But it really takes breaking apart the buds with your hands to see the biggest difference. The sativa feels like rice crispies... Not literally, but when your breaking it apart it just feels so light and airy, but it will dominate your ass hardcore. And it takes so little to get incredibly high!
The hybrid, is so much more stoney... I honestly don't understand how come people love indica so much. Its nice, but then again what pot thats good pot isn't nice? I just do not care for that blanket feeling I get from the blend. You could almost set a clock to it, three hours after smoking it I immedately fall asleep. Its practically like a post-orgasm sleep...you know, try as you might to avoid it your going to sleep no matter what for at least 15 minutes.
Practically, I think the sativa would be a much easier high to be on all day long... instead of the deep sleepy feel of an indica. Also, some of the guys I smoke up with deal with enough anxiety already sober, but indicas seem to make anxiety worse. I think Sativa's are easier to deal with, less feelings of chest tightness.
But Your not going to see me turning down any weed for free... even if it is indica!

I totally agree, Cannabis sativa is alot like "rice crispies". It's kinda crunchy, sometimes it's almost scarry to break the bud up because it literally snaps and pieces can go flying. Cannabis indica is more sticky and the hash just smears off on your finger tips as you break it up. When you sqeeze indica, it will mash down and flatten. If you try to sqeeze sativa bud, it will most likely crumble in your hands. Sativa resin is bright and crystallized. Indica resin is dark and sticky. Hybrids can show either or both qualities from what I have seen. Indica foliage will generally be green, but often are colored toward the red end of the spectrum (green to yellow, to gold, to orange, to red...). Sativa foliage will generally be green with a hint of blue, and varies toward the purple end of the spectrum (green-blue to navy-blue, to turqoise, to blueberry, to blue, to purple...) The most common sativa buds I have seen were greenish blue with bright orange hairs and few crystals or resin droplets. The most common indica buds I have seen... indica varies so much that I couldn't even tell you all the different appearances it has. Obviously, there are several exceptions to everything I said above. There are deep indigo C. indica strains and bright pink C. sativa strains. It all just depends...
