baby bottle tek
    #5223869 - 01/25/06 11:50 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

I just have to say agar's baby bottle tek is extremely effective. I just yesterday made a spore syringe from a dry print and inoculated a baby bottle with 3% karo solution in it and 24 hours later I can definitely see puffs of myc. I only deviated from agar's tek by using a rock as an agitator instead of a marble because of availability :P

That's right,  Agar TEK is really easy, I've just inoculated 2 b.bottles, like 10 minutes ago.

I used it with my first LC except I used honey instead of karo. They were full of myc in less than two days.

That was probably proteins coming out of solution, it looks like myc and appears after a few days, more like little yellowish granules than pure white myc.

i love the baby bottle tek, i had success with injecting spores to the honey water.

but i tried taking myc from popcorn (took a scoop of colonized popcorn and put it in the bottle) and waited a couple days. i noc'd up the jars, but nothing happened. can someone tell me what i did wrong?! i saw pieces of myc floating in the syringe.....

does anyone else make LC from taking colonized substrate?

this is probably a dumb question, but how do you know when the BB/LC's are ready to make into syringes??? some of mine have a pretty good amount of myc built up (can't seem to break it up that well - even w/ the marble) but i dont want to use or stall them too early. i mean, a 2" ball of myc might be a good amount but it doesnt look like much with another 150ml of empty water...

the keeper, i put chunks of broken glass in half pints, then a big spoonful chunk of colonized wbs. i pull syringes from it right away for more qt wbs jars. works great for me. just you got to start at least a couple jars from spores so you can use those jars. If you keep trying to do new generations, the jars just start stalling, or thats what ive noticed

How'd they do? It's been a week to the day today and still no sign of germination in my 5 DT grain jars, it appears the LC just started growing. I'm looking forward to the fruits if they are nearly as attractive as Agar's
