Opinions on un-planned tripping?
    #5179298 - 01/14/06 07:06 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

I had no plans to trip this weekend before yesterday, but in an almost spontaneous decision, all 3 of my housemates decided to go away for the weekend, which is very rare, and I was supposed to be having a friend over to visit yesterday and stay for the weekend, but it turned out that he wasn\'t able to come over.

Now, if my friend had visited, I would definitely not have tripped, but given the situation (being alone which is my preferred way to trip, just finished semester 1 exams, not started semester 2 yet, so no university-related issues to worry about), I suddenly thought to myself; "Hey!  Now would be an ideal time to trip!".

But usually I would plan a trip well in advance, giving myself up to two weeks notice.  Just wondered what the opinion is on unplanned tripping?  I have the advantage this time in that I already know what I want from the trip (that is, to experience smoking weed whilst tripping), and I may not get this opportunity again for a very long time (Especially once semester 2 starts, then I'm likely to get stressed with the work).

On the down-side, the situation has obviously not given me a very long time to think about it or prepare (food, playlist, etc...  I was thinking that I could creat a kind of "best of" tripping playlist derived from the best tracks of my six previous tripping playlists, which I have already done about half of).

What's your opinion on the idea of a relatively unplanned trip?  If I were to do this, I would probably do it at 18:00 or 19:00, which is in 6 or 7 hours from now.  That would mean I need to go shopping for food, prepare said food (peeling apples ), finish my playlist, and meditate a bit in that time.  I think I could do that, but it may be a little rushed.

Anyways, your views and experience on this would be appreciated!

Cheers,
Mart

id go for it. Everytime i plana trip it doesnt work out. All of my best trips have been completly spontanious. I allways wait for that, "ok now its time" feeling, which is usually minutes b4 i dose.

i love it when that happens. you suddenly realize you got the time.

Yes, absolutely.

I've always planned my trips.  I've only had two trips since I've been back at university in September, and my last trip didn't really go so well.  It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.  Two of my housemates were in at the time, which didn't really help, and I had university work to do (even though I knew I had plenty of time to do it, it still bothered me).

My first trip at university went really well, but I think that this was because one of my housemates was gone for the weekend and the other two were out down the pub for most of the night, plus, it was early in the semester and so I really didn't have work on my mind at all.

I might well go for this.  The more I think about it, the better the idea seems.

Cheers!

A few months back I was kinda bored one day and decided to go hang out at a friend's apartment. Not long after I got there a couple hundred hits of LSD showed up. I took one, probably less than an hour after the fact, and had an wonderful experience.

I don't really believe in planning out any trips to any great detail. If the time feels right, do it. There's something to be said for tripping spontaneously, for just being there, doing it, and everything's good. No preconceived notions of why you're doing it or what you should do, just being free and enjoying life for all it's worth. You might be sacrificing a lot more meaningful things if you try to stifle the drug's creativity like that by imposing sober thoughts on it so much.

Of course a little bit of planning can be good: queuing up a playlist, having yummy food and all that are always good things. It's no fun trying to find appropriate music when the concept of interacting with a computer is a heavily abstract one.

So, yeah, I'd say if you want to, and have no reason against doing so, just do it!

i love spontaneous tripping, although i wouldn't want to do a big dose without preparing for it.

I would have to say that I dont really care for spontaneous tripping. I like to space my trips out and have plenty of time to fill my head and get ready for the trip. I like to have a good week or so to prep for things, reading, writing, just general conscious things. Not to mention, living with roommates and having friends and family over alot of the time makes it hard to find a good time to trip. I have 2 hits of my first acid sitting in a book on my shelf. It has been there for about a month and a half, just waiting for the right time to take one :peace::sun:

Thanks guys.  I will eat the chocolate in about hour (1 gram dried Cyans in it ).  Everything is ready to go.

RyanKerr, I also like to space out my trips and get ready, but as you said, it can be really hard to find an ideal time, and right now is my ideal time, which I didn't realise until yesterday.  My last trip was about 5-6 weeks ago anyways, so I don't really think it's too soon after my last.  I've actually had the chocolate for since August.

sponteneity allows god to shine through while leaving you with no expectations.

Go for it man, no stress and total freedom rocks. I hate tripping and having to answer an unexpected call the next day or whatever.

I have never put anywhere near that much thought into any of my over 100 trips with mescaline, shrooms, acid, or salvia. I don't think I'd ever get to trip if I had to plan it out like that. Something would always come up at the last minute or something.

The only planned trips I have are when I go on my two camping trips each year. I pretty much know that I'll be tripping on those two weekends.

it's hard to do a spontaneous trip if you have some sort of schedule (work, school, etc...) in your life. i have a trip planned for march but i have more mush than i need for that trip so if i know i will have a weekend free ill prolly drop em.

once you eat em, there's no turnin back. if you have something planned you might fuck things up pretty bad. on the other hand, there was a guy that pitched a perfect game on 4 hits of dank blotter....

i dunno, i guess it all depends on how willing you are to put the experience to the side and concentrate on life around you.
