I for one am a volunteer here @ the Shroomery, to name one thing. Currently I'm involved in translating shroomgrowing TEKs and a project to perhaps give Salvia her fertility back (all thanks to Psiloman!) is spinnin' in the background.

lol it must be the ween im smoking, been like this all week :P
im happy to hear that the project is getting off the ground 
my main idea is to on the one hand try to see how far we can influence these vendors.
(and make no mistake, when u are forced to take a mailbox offline you are loosing money)
wile at the same time becoming more vocal.
the vendors are going to be the ones ending up on the news.
so we should attach ourselves in some way so that when it happens our side of the story ends up on cam aswell.
the propaganda machine has an easy time of it because its the only one talking.
so it easily paints a simple picture that has left the realm of plausibility a wile ago.
people are sick and tired of being lied to be priests and politicicans
that i think they are ready to listen.
we should use this as an excuse to loudly proclaim that some of us are in this for reasons of spirituality.
all any1 ever sees is the cheech and chong concept of drug user.
we could take this oppertunity to start something that stands for everything positive about our little community here.
by 'attacking' this problem of bad vendors agressively we can
show the general public that we are in fact on their side.
im thinking of a future in wich when it comes to the point of having a debate with larry king live we will have a chair in that mofo...
an organisation that opposes bad vendorship would be the perfect guest on that show.
i think maybe we might do something akin to the shroomery sponsors situation.
we collaborate with as many of the major communities like this one
to have a banner on their sites.
and have a website with a list of vendors who have been quality checked.
for now i was thinking we try to centralise this discussion
and start getting people who have resources in on it.
maybe we can get several good vendors to start something...
to do this we will need a statement that illustrates the problem
and a place to discuss it.
right now this convo is going on at several forums...

Vertigo I am with you 100 percent I`m just not sure what to do...I was thinking that maybe a large donantion to the Center for Cognitive Library and Ethics. They ran a Salvia salvation operation for a long time before they ran out of funding, from what I understand it was pretty succesful.
and as far as a heads up goes monitor the dea microgram bulletins....itll pop up in there if anything is soon to be scheduled (If it follows the same path as research chems).

I dont't think they realise that the so called herbal highs in that
video are not herbal and contain BZP and TFMMP. Lumping these in with the likes of Salvia will bring even more negative attention.

I'm outraged by some of the shit i've seen clicking links you've posted Vertigo. We really need a piece of those news stories, and have our views made apparent. I'm going to be active in this. First off i think email addresses and links to all bad vendors should be posted in one page, and we should all write emails to them clearly stating our points like Vertigo did to salviasupply. We need a shitload of plant-LOVERS to be doing this and being active.
Hell, one of my good friends has a video camera and produces and edits film. I'm thinking of maybe making some films to be posted all over the net, about these vendors and the consequences of such ludacris behaviour. Also to show the essence and goodness of these sentient plants, and their role in our lives.
I'm just now coming up with ideas, kinda running out atm, but i'm sure i'll be flooded with more. For now i'll find large vendors that suck, post their url's and emails. BBL

That's why I allowed my local news to interview me regarding the use of Salvia. Not all of what I said made the editing cut, but it went as well as could be expected given that local "outraged Moms" were already speaking out, and this is what I had to counteract.

well i wasnt the first to post about it, someone had posted essentialy the same before but the post had faded out of view before i read it.
i happen to have alot of free time so i decided i should do whatever i can to keep the convo alive, simply because i can.
someone made the point that difference of oppinion on what is acceptable behaviour would make a mess of such an effort.
i agree with this, however i think we should be able to agree to some very basic things.
for example: no1 should sell datura, belladonna etc. as a consumer product without a strong warning of the possible dangers.
we can have a few of those and try to keep an eye on that.
if none of the vendors are effected in any way by our efforts, the results will still be a nice little survey.
the information this offers could proove usefull in the future.

ok so alot fo you are wanting to do something about this but dont know quite what and alot of you feel we should get organised.
how many of you feel we should appoint a 'leader' of some kind?
for organisation and what to do i would propose we do this:
im a moderator on the Information Revolution forums and that is all about revolution.
the board was started on the notion of figuring out how to use information to effect change, so im pretty sure i can get the guys there to help out with a central area for this discussion.
the question is wether that board can handle the traffic i intend to
provoke there.
we need a desegnated place to discuss this.
idealy a large forum like this one that already has lots of traffic.
perhaps we should petition the shroomery to support us with some stickies...
anyways what i think we should do is this:
get someone who is good at writing to write a short bit that expresses the problem and invites the recipient to the conversation.
we then mail this to everyone in the community, especialy vendors and organisations like erowid, any church that has psychedelic sacrements
people doing research etc etc.
then we just wait and see who joins the conversations and what kind of doors that might open...
so basicly: centralsise and aquire resources.
how that sound to you guys?

Personnaly i stay away from politics and it doesnt matter if plants get illegal in uk or usa they still grow in my greenhouse. if they are illegal these vendors wouldnt make money on misleading people and hopefully drugabusers and media will forget all about salvia and it would still grow in my garden. people who are serious about salvia will still be able to get a cutting. anyways thats just me.
