Re: Any personal stories of Reincarnation? [Re: moog]

Gillete and Moog, thanks a lot for your ideas about my lifetimes. I was expecting ridicule when I did that post for some reason, but since I've been thinking about this stuff lately, I decided to go ahead and risk posting it. Glad I did now...

I think both of you are right. It's interesting to think that my mind has retained the memory of my previous suicide and that is what causes me to desire it so compulsively. It's the only explanation I can think of.

And Moog. What you say makes sense. You see, in my youth, I fantasized about suicide, but I was afraid of it because of hell. It was not an "option" for me because of hell. Now that I think there is no hell (but the ones we create for ourselves), all possiblities are unchecked. You might say I have come to grasp the extent of my own power as a human being. I have come to the realization that I really can do everything I want, including kill myself. Suddenly, that path is open, and hmm does it ever look alluring at times. It's like, when things go wrong, my mind immediantly switches to suicide and I can go from supremely happy to very despondant in less then an instant. Half the time I don't even realize it's happening. It's an automatic response I've had since I can remember.

Anyway, thanks for your ideas.

I figure most of how I am is from previous memories and experiences piled into another being.

ellemyshade, dont commit suicide. although its true that as a human you can prusue any option , i believe suicide is a very bad option to take...

i think that karmically, it stains you. simply because to me, god is life, he is the force that animates and creates us, and he is what sustains us. To kill yourself is to reject his gift, and more, it is to reject him

of course god will never judge you or send you to hell, suicide or not. he loves you and in time will take you back into his essence (or dissolve the illusion that you ever left)

but still, i feel that it is a dark path to walk.

just an intuiton really. also, to cause suffering to others is karmically bad imho, and surely by killing youself you would cause suffering to your friends and family?

better to learn to love life than to embrace death

Don't worry, I'm not going to committ suicide. I live a pretty fulfilled and happy life plus I have stuff that needs to be done. I won't leave early this time.

Exactly...I think I still carry a lot of guilt from the last time around.

But this thread really isn't about my personal issues...I just mentioned the suicide thing because of reincarnation...thanks though.

On the reincarnation topic, question for everyone:

What animals do you feel you've experienced existence as at one point or another?

I think I've been a

Elephant
Wolf
House cat
Horse
Mouse

perhaps a spider

and perhaps others that aren't coming to mind.

I think I've been a house pet.... cat or dog? I did some lucid dreaming one afternoon (napping) and I went to go ponder this prior dream I had, to figure out what it meant.... well I found myself very "small" and I was on the floor, there was this heater near me and I was thinking "man i could have burnt myself because I didn't know that heaters are dangerous" and then I saw this woman walking by and I thought "man i'm so vulnerable down here, she could step on me and kill me" and I just SAT THERE not knowing... at all... whether she was a cruel person, and if she would murder me.... I thought I was a mouse or something (but i had no idea what i was) and that her logical reaction would be to kill me.... but because she just kind of ignored me I concluded that I must have been a pet.

There was a little girl sitting at a table doing homework.... it was a very nice house and I saw in color.......
(actually at first i thought i was a human baby, but it seemed more like i was an animal since the "mom" should have payed closer attention to me if i was wandering around near a heater.....)
animals are so very fragile and humans are so very cruel to kill them just for fun (this includes bugs, etc)

i sometimes worry that i've been a spider... or a fly.... and I wonder.....

once you become a human, do you keep rebirthing at a human or higher level? The eastern religions don't seem to think so so much... but since you have accumulated so much knowledge, even if you "deserve" a bad life, I don't see how you can fall back down to being an animal so as to be completely ignorant.... you could be mentally retarded or something....... I don't know.

The optimist in me wants to say "hey, you're going to have a life EQUAL to this one, or better if you don't waste this current life...." but the pessimist says "no, you could go to hell or be an animal or a bug or something......... you need to use this life to maximum efficiency..."

the latter makes me feel bad..... but I do think we rebirth.... and if you attain a certain degree of enlightenment, reincarnate (choicefully, deliberately...... retaining awareness of past lives to an extent, etc) but...... I sure don't particularly want to stay in samsara.

since your talking about animals too...

I had a cat that disappeared and the next year I was driving home on mushrooms and when I pulled up to my house there was a baby rabbit sitting where my cat used to sit and it's eyes looked the same (the feeling behind them). I was kind of happy and sad .. plus I was tripping . That rabbit always comes around and sits where my cat used to.

I often feel like I know people. Those feelings are deeper than knowing someone for years. It's like seeing people with your heart.

reincarnation has laws like everything... only humans can reach enlightenment (escape the cycle of reincarnation)... animals are only allowed to gain so much power. Don't ever invite animals into your body or ask for things from animals... it's not high level and they take something in return. Same goes for aliens.

Gods exist and things happen for reasons.

it is your cell memory retaining that suicide, and it does make sense that you would be forced to relive that life, the things you were to do and learn were not accomplished and so you will do and learn them in this life. As far as the suicide cell memory goes, remind your self that was a past life, that is not this life, like a daily affirmation. Just let it go. Let me know how it goes. I can send you books to help you.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know that these cells have a memory of a past life on them?

A friend showed me first, how to get back to previous lives.
The first I did know is that I was a proud roman soldier (in full armour) posing before a pyramid in Egypt (romans defeated the egiptians).
Later I did Oobe-journeys with another friend. We were 'interconnected' in many incarnations and we first saw us in very very primitive cultures (perhaps 10-20.000 Years ago), both as 'religious' leaders of different groups. We went through many ancient incarnations, with the end-result that he allways killed me  Mostly verry nice fights (in the woods with swords, or on planes, wherever mostly duels). He got banned for the last few-thousand years, but we could say, we are 'ancient' friends
My socially nicest incarnation was in a big crew of thieves in a laarge french forest, about some hundred years past christ, robbing rich travelers and wagons with gold and wine
Before christ, I remember me in some small Chinese(?) provinz as a monk, hunted by the soldiers of the chinese empire.
Then, about 15th century, I was a very powerful inquisitor
At the beginning of last century I owned a factory with many workers.
I missed both world-wars, thank g*d.

Once upon a time, on a mushroom trip... I realized that the concept of reincarnation relies upon the "we are all one conscious being experiencing itself subjectively" idea.

Transcendence of ego renders no need for a traditional understanding of the concept of reincarnation to exist. (ie, "I" had this past life or "I" had that past life) The importance of "I" is negated when one realizes they are not their ego.

It's like we're all reincarnated as eachother and as every other person that's ever lived or will live.

I believe the concept of reincarnation is a metaphor meant to soften the idea of: "Your ego and body will die, but the conscious energy that lives inside of that body is immortal."

--

P.S. I'm not saying that reincarnation doesn't exist, instead I'm describing a different way of looking at the same basic concept... except without the "strings" of individuality.

Instead of "I" being me as well as "that" person and "this" person in other lives, forming "strings" of individuality for different "souls"; I can just say that I am living THIS life, because I'm quite sure of that and that alone. Beyond that, having experienced alternate "realities" in dreams and trips, I suspect a sort of "sea of mass-consciousness" that we individually emerge from. But that's just speculation.

OMG!!!

I used to have those same exact feelings.

I believe that I did commit suicide in my most recent attempt and now have made it past my fail point and my life has become much more simple/peaceful.

I know it sounds strange but the feeling was very profound at the time.

Thank you, things get better all the time.   Glad someone could relate!

Speaking of reincarnation...anyone ever suspect they might be their own parents?

I keep having this icky suspicion I might have been my father in another "life" (right now).  Certain...things and coincidences and other uncomfortable stuff makes me wonder that.  But I'm trying not to think of it as icky.  It's just natural.

one was in the old victorian era. where my sister who was actually my daughter back then was raped i was just about to kill the bloke then i just broke down and cried, but another bloke who was standing behind me took the gun walked into the room where the rapist was and shot him.

i have had alot with my sister, me and her are pretty close in the ones i can remember she has died in most of them.

also i was a preist in love with a girl(my sister) but couldn't give up my faith and beleif in god for somebody that i loved.

I think dreams are glimpses of our past lives. not in the poetical sense either.

everyone has a perfect photographic memory.... not many people have perfect recall.

Dreams, IMO, are random access memory. imagine all the memories, every second, of all your lives, in a huge file cabinet, and someone randomly pulls out segments from the entire cabinet.

why can we fully experience events or actions in our dreams which are impossible in waking life? (hypothetically) how could I possibly know what giving birth is like, if i am a man? If I fully experienced every emotion and feeling of giving birth, in a dream, how is that possible?
