Seriously I understand what a lot of you are saying, but its also incredibly annoying to have the knowledge that someone has a cell phone and yet they refuse to answer it when you want to get in touch with them. Most of my conversations are 30-40 seconds long which is why I see no reason a person shouldn't be able to pause what they're doing for that amount of time. Of course I understand if your doing something important, intimate, or just driving. But don't be a prick and never ever answer your phone or call me back unless you in fact don't want to talk to me. I hear what you guys are saying, but its really annoying to know people who have cell phones but NEVER answer them.
A story to relate though: I always keep my phone on simply because its the only phone I answer and someone might actually have something important to tell me. Today I slept till 2:30, so if someone needs to call to tell me my grandma died... I don't want to miss the call. But anyways, I get a call from a friend at 10:30 this morning. Ignore it. Phone rings 15 minutes later and I pick it up. First of all, this is the same friend I've told not to call me before 12 on numerous occasions, b/c I'm going to be sleeping. And so this is what was so "important" he had to wake me up for it. He asks if I wanted to have a hotel party for New Years. I said I don't know, and that was the bulk of our conversation. The one thing I can say is convenient about that conversation is that thanks to my cell phone is... I never got out of bed.

I think its a silly assumption that someone should be available 24/7 simply because they have a cellphone.
Even if I did not have a cellphone, and just a land line
- I would ignore it if I was really into a movie or TV show I was watching, I'd call back after the show or movie or during commerical break - I would ignore it if I was studying and didnt want to break/stop what I was doing - I would ignore it if I was really into a video game - I would ignore it if I had company over and was visiting with them - I would ignore it if I was eating a meal
Basicly - even if I had a landline, there is alot of times I'd simply let the phone ring and let the answering machine get it as I dont want to interrupt whatever it is I am doing.
I just dont like phones a whole lot to begin with, if you want to get in touch with me, the best way is either
a: Meet up in person, if we are going to talk, rather do it over a coffee than over the phone
b: Send me a message on MSN
But just because a phone rings, does not mean that you must answer it.
