hahahah, you mean there are people that actually use it, well i do occassionally but for the most part around I would think not, maybe a grammer checker should be available too.

Well given that your Yankee cousins are the ones running this site, you will use our bastardized spelling and imperial measurements and timezones and LIKE IT! 
Including the subject field in spellcheck is easy enough. However, since many subjects are simply "Re: Someusername", it seems like it would create a lot of false positives. That's why it hasn't been checked thus far.

another interesting thing about the spell check. It suggest you capitalize names, but not "i".

With the likes of Bush in office, can you blame us for needing to simply things like spelling? The poor shrub has enough trouble speaking coherrently, let alone trying to spell large words like 'colour' correctly.
