yeah its about the same depending on what kind of oil it is and how good you filter it.
i just went back to the dumpster, and snagged another few gallons. i have 8 filtered now, im half way home from Detroit!
im thinking that i might actually bring all of the parts i need for the conversion and do it in Detroit before i drive the Benz Home!
but yeah, tomorrow im going to take the passenger seat out of my car, and put in a 30 gallon oil drum, and go around town fillin her up! these 5 gallon trips are some bullshit.
the filter setup all in all cost me about $150. thats = to under 50 gallons of diesel, this shit RawkS!

The Mr. Hero here has a bin, like a dumpster, that holds around 200 gallons of oil. You gotta try and find one of those bad boys.

you should just ask the restaurant owners for the oil. they usually have to pay to have it disposed of, so they'd be glad to just give it to you at no cost to them. of course, small businesses would be easier...

he converted a diesel to bio-diesel using a kit, probably car manufacturers arent into bio-diesel, for obvious reasons.

You're actually going to do this? Right on.
What are the drawbacks to doing this?

no real drawbacks.. you just need a car that can be converted with one of the kits.
gas mileage is about the same, sometimes better. runs on free vegetable oil from restaurants.
zippoz will explain the rest...

What happens when everyone does this and the resaurants run out of oil? I'd imagine that a major city's restaurants could support maybe 100-1000 cars, depending on the city.
What I'm getting at is we need this biofuel to actually be mass-produced and available at every gas station for this to be a permanant fuel solution for mankind. Are there any plans for that?
