Shroomery should....

expand into a publicly traded company. Become a massive corporation. That why I can buy stock...you guys will get rich...I will buy more...get more voting power...and then have some "say so" myself.
Ya'll have very great potential on your hands....a better domain name might help though....nothing wrong with shroomery.com....
it's just not....i don't know.....not well known... i guess all the good ones are taken..... psychedelic....i don't know just something more to the point other than shroomery....maybe we should get "shroomery" added to the dictionary....and made a common house hold name.....
the reason i say the shroomery has so much potential is because...
look at its members....they are smart and creative.....lets do something with that....lets start investing.

give one share of free common stock to each member...that way they could earn maybe $1 whenever you pass out dividends.
this place could take over (or just influence it) the world.

Hey,
I'm flattered you think the site has so much potential. It's definitely true our community is one of a kind. I'm constantly amazed at the intelligence, diversity and personality of our posters. I feel privileged to be part of such an eclectic group.
To be honest though, I don't see an IPO as the next step in expanding this community. Our site is firmly in the black and we've got the capital and credit we need to grow. More importantly though, and I can't speak for the other admins but they probably agree, I like working for myself and not you schmucks. I also like not having to undergo audits and comply with SEC regulations. Unless we get to the point where a lack of funds is holding us back from acting in the site's best interests, we'll probably hang on to our ownership.
Thanks for the idea though!
Peace,
-Y

Agreed, it is a cool idea - but damn that would make this place 10-times more difficult to manage. .. and she's already a fiesty bitch at times

whoa...i wasn't implying that if that is what you infered....i was meaning when they get old and can't run the site.....i'm assuming they will hand over command...but...why keep it so elitist...lets get a board of directors and "shareholders" who can vote.
that is what treasury stock is for.
and eventually we could get so big we can buy out...i don't know....all kinds of companies...yeah how fun would that shit be.

Believe it or not, this site is already controlled by a formal board of directors, of which the Shroomery.org (as well as ratemypipe.com and other sites we will be developing) are cumulatively controlled under the parent entity: Mind Media Inc. Myself, Vamp, Y, Thor, and Anno are all equal shareholders of this privately held corporation:
- President: Ythan
- Treasurer: Geo
- Secretary: Thor
- Tech Advisor: Anno
- Resident Linux Bitch: Vamp

In so far as us getting older and unable to perform our duties here, new members will be appointed through a nomination process, interviews, and ultimately a shareholder vote. Our articles of Unanimous Written Consent specifically state that no shareholder may transfer their stake in the corporation to another person, without prior approval of the current directors, stated as follows:Quote:
FURTHER RESOLVED, that any person holding stock in the Corporation may not sell, assign, or transfer any of their shares to any non-officer of the Corporation without the unanimous written consent of the Board of Directors.
