The only rule is that if someone complains about you to the admin enough, you will get permabanned.

The reason we link to the site-wide policy, is that OTD in and of itself does not seem to have specific forum guidelines. Thus, it is only accountable to site-wide policy, most of which is overlooked unless there are legal issues involved, or issues that are spilling drama elsewhere in the community. As we cannot easily specify the type of matters which will cause these outcomes, we like to point to our site-wide guidelines which should give the reader a fairly accurate understanding of what we tolerate and what we do not (this of course includes the various links on the newuser.php page, such as our Administrative Rules & Guidelines).

The incident related to [this thread], involved users who were deliberately making false accusatory statements towards a specific user. Generally speaking, harassing a user when confined to OTD, will be let go. However, the accusations towards 40oz falsely indicated that he had participated in a highly illegal activity, which being untrue, is defamation. Defamation, particularly that which could bring upon a user serious legal threat, is something that we will not tolerate in ANY forum here.
Regardless of the administration's failure to catch people who
may have gotten away with such behavior in the past, does NOT
justify allowing it to persist once we have become aware of it.

If a user is openly accusing another user of cultivating illegal substances, and that user does not feel comfortable with said accusations; then yes, we will interveine in efforts to resolve the conflict. Really now, is it so difficult to simply respect other people's privacy and personal wishes?
In so far as warnings, I was told by a moderator that many of the involved users had been contacted regarding their behavior - not to mention that many of them had been involved in past diciplinary action related to similar misbehavior, and thus they should have known that they were walking a fine line to begin with. Lastly, as stated in our AR&G: "While we will do out best to be fair, we do reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason" in addition to "Every user may contest their ban through our Support System. Please include any and all relevant information and links where applicable. While we reserve the right to allow certain users readmittance, do not expect to be given a second chance if you have been perm banned."

Why even have a stipulation that says you need to warn them first if it's not really necessary?
Either people must be warned or they don't. This is one of the cases where a warning would have stopped the problems. I was there to see it, and I know that would have calmed things down.

Because 99% of actions taken by users that are against policy, are minor infractions and they will first receive a warning for their behavior before any forced restrictions are implemented. Most if not all of the users involved in the current incident either had recieved numerous warnings for similar misbehavior in the past, and some of them received warnings for the current incident as well. Your position makes me think that we may as well not have any stipulations save for "we do what we want" - but contrary to some of the more diehard (and dare I say unreasonable) users here, we do want to make everyone's participation here an enjoyable experience; and thus we aim to keep them informed as to our general policy so that they will know what to expect and where to file complaints or suggestions they may have. As stated many times now, most of the users involved in the current incident have rap sheets that indicate up to 6 seperate instances where they have been given administrative direction or diciplinary action in the past. You'd think after so many interactions with the staff, they could take a hint.

In hankys thread that was deleted, he stated that he had no idea if forty had fucked kids and didn't care.
Hankys point was that forty is a whiney little bitch that cant take any heat.

curiously, is there a way to bypass the
birthdate entry form and passed directly
to the rules when you click the rules link?
right not it's cumbersome and the seemingly
unrelated first step my serve more as a
diversion for people actively seeking the rules.
in fact...I never saw the rules in that...it
asks for birthdate and then goes to new user
reg...so not quite sure if there's a more
straightforward way of presenting rules to folks
seeking them without having to reuse the cumbersome
and overly complex newuser script.
