Well my experiences with it have been nothing short of amazing, but your mileage will vary.
From what I know of DMT off the top of my head, it is similar in chemical structure to a chemical your brain releases when you dream. My view on DMT is that it brings your conscious mind on a journey through your subconscious that it retains full memory of. There are many things to see and many things to learn in there.
I have smoked a DMT concentrate twice, and each time was an unforgetable trip. Took a deep inhale, then another, and passed it over to my friend. I became aware of a vibration, which was very subtle at first and then grew to be almost overwhelming. It was like a high and low frequency at the same time resonating in harmony. The volume increased until their was a loud *clap* (In the brain?) And I was drawn into another realm..
While words cannot accurately describe the experience, it was like I took a journey into a part of myself that I knew existed, but had never seen. I saw all of the things I had done and have yet to do. I saw my past,present and future simultaneously. I went to the other side of the Universe and back again, being led by an irresistable force. I saw my connection with Creation and all things. I learned that all things are a part of Creation, and we are all the same force. Therefore, I must respect and love all things as though they were myself, because they are myself. In a nutshell, that is.

Well, I was already at that understanding...but DMT made it that much clearer for me, and also shot me to new levels of that awareness that I did not realize existed. But essentially.... yes

What I can tell you about DMT is that it is in everybody occuring naturally. A Mass Spectography blood analysis will show trace amounts.
ADDED TO POST: also at the chemical level psilocybin, The Shroom Molecule when metabolized in vivo to psilocin is only one oxygen atom different than DMT.

Blood is what keeps us alive. It contains within it crystalline matrices which connect us to the 2D realm and also to the 4D. From what I know, consciousness is carried in blood.. and as we enter the photon band codes are released in our blood which carries our evolutionary path. I could go on but I think thats all you wanted.
About the pineal gland... It is affected by the Seventh Chakra (Crown Chakra) It effects the personality positively through oneness with all, and cosmic understanding, negative traits are put down feelings, and alienation from life... when activated it enables the ability to leave the body in full consciousness, have a greater understanding of life, and perfect astral travel
As far as the chemical it releases I dont know... but I do know that it is directly related to the Seventh Chakra.

I believe we are chemical beings, but I don't think that in any way invalidates our "spiritual" experiences of love, hate, religious conversion and so on...
Knowing the mechanism behind such things needn't relegate them to the "solved" pile, nor should it remove any of the mystery and wonder associated with them. Indeed, for some, it only adds to it...
We are surely greater than the sum of our parts, but I don't think retreating into mysticism is the best way to comprehend our world(s) and our place in it.

The human body has TRILLIONS of cells in it. I would probably have to puke if I knew how many molecules were in the human body. So therefore, I really can't tell you anything more to what you already have a good understang of.
