These show up in our front yard every year. I am told they are Puff Balls and are edible?

Take a pic of the ones bigger than you're head it would really be a feast for the eyes to see a mushroom that size!

cut to make sure all of the flesh is white. It will start to yellow in the center and go bad when sporing out. You can simply cook or marinade a thick steak of it. They are very good.

I was once on a college day out walking through some woods (very big and full of shrooms) when i saw some puffballs, not sure if there were puffballs, but they look just like the ones in the pic, like giant potato's with white fluff/powder inside. One of the tutors said if your prepare it right, through boiling and such the effects are like psychedelic cocaine and can send you crazy in the head. Other tutors agrees. But Taken into mind that these tutors probably don't know what their chatting on, its worth a through.
Is there any truth to what they claimed?

I saw loads of these in short grass areas along the north east coast of England. Also I think they're completely inactive.

yea cut it and eat it like a steak they start to go bad in like 1 day after bringing them in.. to store them you should cook then freeze if you want to keep them for like weeks and weeks
you can look up some recipes on the internet or somthing there pretty much all the same
