Waukesha - Authorities confiscated nearly 600 grams of hallucinogenic drugs, 10 marijuana plants and more than $4,000 in cash from a suspected drug house on Main Street in the Village of Sussex on Sept. 6.
The Waukesha County Metro Drug Unit, acting on a tip from an informant, entered an upper unit in a building that had at one time about 50 marijuana plants growing in it, according to a search warrant filed Sept. 8 in Waukesha County Circuit Court.
Two men, ages 24 and 23, are suspected of operating the drug house.
According to the warrant:
On Sept. 5, a confidential source told authorities that he called a 24-year-old man Aug. 31 about purchasing one-quarter ounce of psilocybin mushrooms and one-quarter ounce of high-grade marijuana.
The 24-year-old man is an acquaintance of a 23-year-old man who lives in the rental unit where the hallucinogenic drugs were allegedly being stored and the marijuana grown.
The 24-year-old man told the source that the renter of the unit wanted to move the growing operation to the source's new apartment.
At the time of the drug buy, the source went into the apartment with the 24-year-old man and saw in a small room 40 to 50 marijuana plants.
On Sept. 6, authorities had the source contact the 24-year-old man, who said there was no longer any marijuana in the apartment and that the growing operation was moved to another location.
Later that day, a surveillance officer saw the 23-year-old man and a woman leave the apartment with a package. Police stopped the vehicle the man and woman were in and found one-quarter pound of marijuana.
At 8 p.m. that day, authorities executed the search warrant and removed numerous devices used for growing marijuana, assorted drug paraphernalia, $4,810 in cash, growing supplies, notebooks containing "drug notes," and 610 grams of mushrooms.
The men have not been formally charged.
The Washington County Drug Enforcement Unit initially received information about the alleged drug house from the source Sept. 5.
