Mexicana/Grass seed question

Does anyone out there with Mexicana/Tampanensis expertise have anything to say about what kind of grass seed works best?
Is perennial rye the best/only to use? Do other rye grasses work as well?
How about where to find organic or untreated seed?
Thanks,
AE

I found untreated rye grass seed at a local garden shop. They just have the stuff in bins.
If you're unsure if you have the right kind, just mix the rye grass seed w/ some verm/brf. The verm will help with moisture retention since rye grass seed doesn't retain very well.

All grass seed seems to be about the same regarding its use as a substrate. Annual rye grass is recommended because it is the cheapest available and is usually untreated. Perrenial rye grass seed is more expensive.

I wouldn't be afraid of trying it on any similar grass seed.
This is a multi spore mexicana culture on various seed:
62% Perennial ryegrass
17% Kentuckey Bluegrass
16% Creeping red fescue
I got a big ol 15 lbs bag of this Scotts mix for $20(US), just look around at garden or hardware supply stores, make sure its not treated with fungicide, it should say on the bag if it is.
