ok this is a different question than what i asked before.. ive been doing some research and everything says that it is best to sprout in the spring.. however im hopin to germinate mine in the next week or two, do u think they will make it thru the winter with proper care indoors? and also i found some poppy seeds, can u get opium from them or is that the most retarded thing ive ever thought of?

I normally start my seeds over Winter under flouros, so that by Summer they are big enough to handle a bit of sun, after CAREFULLY getting them used to stronger light. I've never had much etiolation. That's when using 120W of normal flouro lightbulbs in a container of about 3 square feet.
You won't get any opium from poppy seeds, but you'll be able to plant them out soon and then by next Summer you'll be able to get lots . There are some great topics here on growing poppies, check them out...
