Man planned to use stolen body to smuggle drugs

PONTIAC (AP) - A judge in Pontiac has sentenced a man to serve two to 20 years in prison for stealing a body from a suburban Detroit hospital.
Twenty-two-year-old Calvin Spann confessed to the theft and says he and his co-defendants planned to use the body to smuggle cocaine and marijuana.
The Detroit resident cried at yesterday's sentencing and said he was sorry for his actions.
Authorities say he and two co-defendants posed as funeral home workers to steal the body of 86-year-old George Hilton from Providence Hospital in Southfield.
John Cryer and Lorenzo Baker are expected to stand trial.
